Urban streetwear for men/women.
After the succes in Oostende / Gent / Knokke / Brugge, this famous shop finally settled in the fashion capital of Belgium. This shop has the most modern clothes in every other city!
This shop is specialised in special sizes. From very fashionable clothes to more traditional clothing. The staff is very friendly and helpful. This was one of the shops where I used to buy my clothes whan my weight was much higher.
They´re selling designer brands which are usually hard to find. Collections like Martine Sitbon, Preen, Levi´s Red, Vintage, Diesel Stylelab, etcetera, all difficult to find usually. Besides, you should also see the shop, it´s a 16th century building and they must have had an exellent architect: the groundfloor - where they sell the men´s collection - is very modern, white and minimalistic where as the basement kept its old original features, going back 4 centuries in time, reallly a place worth visiting if you like designer wear and exlusive streetwear
What to buy:
Clothes, clothes, clothes haha
What to pay:
In average I think around a 150 Euro, but then you have something very exclusive, you won´t see many others wearing the same piece!
There are many shops in the area of the Cathedral.
What to buy:
Lace and tapestries. The lace is handmade and somewhat expensive but worth it if you are a collector. There are baby christening dresses, bridal veils, tablecloths, collars etc. Almost anything you can imagine being made of lace.
The tapestry collections are extensive, more choices than I have seen in any European city.
What to pay:
The lace seemed expensive but I have not purchased enough to know an appropriate price. The tapestries are a great value. I have purchased many, all over Europe. Antwerp prices are the best.
Exclusive shop with fun stuff for children.
What to buy:
Very nice clothes (Eager Beaver,...) special accesoires and toys (even small monchichi's ;) nice fun puppets & exclusive furniture (bed made as houses with playground for €1250-€1700!) and a hairdresser included.
Expensive but worth a visit, even just to take a look! See website for more info.
The Meir in general locates most popular interntional stores, about 3 H&M stores, Mexx, Esprit and other shops. It's usually casual to modern orientated, but no real design / knitwear.
There are some exeptions, but not too many.
The urban streetwear shops left for men are Men @ Work (down the big shoppinggallery & in the end of the Meir on the right side). And the Replay store (in the end of the Meir on the right). For women there is more choice.
Don't forget to checkout the sidestreets which are mostly the best !!
Smaller designershops cannot pay the high rents and have to open in sidestreets or Kammenstraat neighbourhood. These adresses have more extravagant & unique clothes.
In a nutshell:
-----------------
The Meir : common shops from around the world
Huidevettersstraat : more design/knitwear from average to expensive
Nationalestraat : famous designers (Dries Van Noten,...)
Kammenstraat : hip fashionstores, 2nd hand, skater, punk, urban streetwear
like Pépé,Gsus,Gstar,Adidas,Lee Cooper,Fish&Chips,...
Big shop with sometimes live dj mixing above your head, lots of choice, sometimes quit expensive, for people 40 years.
It's more streetwear, in the beginning i quit liked the unique concept of this shop, sometimes extreme flashy punk-clothes.
What to buy:
Extravagant clothes, t-shirts, streetwear, shoes,... for him and her.

VERONIQUE BRANQUINHO zal dit jaar géén stockverkoop houden! (Transl.: there will be no stock sale from Veronique Branquinho this year).
What to buy:
Designer clothes.
The main shopping street is De Meir. It's a long street with shops on both sides and no motorized traffic. Many of the shops are part of big chains. In general you won't find anything here that you won't find in any other city. The street has some truly fascinating architecture but for shopping it's not that interesting.
If you are keen on shopping there are a lot of boutiques, mainly in the area around Nationalestraat, including Dries van Noten, Ann Demeulemeester, Walter van Beirendonck and Marina Yee. A great walk in which you can find cosy or ellegant clothes, friendly people and some nice cafes to take a rest.
What to buy:
Clothes, Accesσories, Souvenirs
