This street was in the past used for prostitution.Now it is only allowed in 3 streets.Vingerlingstraat,shippersstraat and verversrui.In the Oudemanstraat it is not allowed anymore,they want to renovate the street and make it more attractive to live.Untill that happens artists make artworks of the houses.
On our way back to the Grote Markt we walked thru the small red light district.... just like all the red light district's around the world, use extreme caution... shaddy people are everywhere. They just look like there looking for trouble !!!!! We were 4 guys so nobody messed with us, but just use caution here !!!!

This is the "fun" part of Antwerp, also known as the Sailors' Quarter. It's rather seedy but pretty safe, with a strong police presence. It has all the things that a red light district should have, including (like Amsterdam) hookers sitting in the windows. Note: If you pull out your camera, they make themselves scarce.

Must see for those who cares to, but it is a must see all the same. I know some of us may be regular customers here, so why not know it exists in Antwerp.
