Favorite thing: In the shadow of the St. Lambertus church lies a beautiful nature reserve, 'Oude Landen'. It's a nice place to walk and enjoy the nature.
The reserve is open all year round from sunrise to sunset.

Fondest memory: It took me 36 years to discover this lovely place. It's only 7 km away from where I live. I knew of its existence, but just thought, it was a pool in the middle of the harbour, not attractive at all. Well, I definitely was wrong about that. The pool is surrounded by trees (you don't see much of the harbour), there's a walking path around the pool and a lot of space for sunbathing or a picnic. I was even surprised that you don't hear much noise of the harbour or highway close by. It was just perfect for a relaxing afternoon out with the dogs.

Favorite thing: Ekeren has a lovely castle. It is called 'Kasteel Veltwijck' and houses the district council. It is surrounded by water and a little park. From here, you can start your walk through the 'Oude Landen', which lies behind the park.

Ekeren lies north of Antwerp and is not really a touristic place but when you happen to be in the neighbourhood and you enjoy walking in nature, than 'Oude Landen' is the place to go.
