I just loooove this place! This is Lier's first lounge bar and it even better than most of the lounge bars in big cities like Antwerp of Brussels.
Expect a menu with fingerfood, cocktails and top-class delicaties.
Closed on monday and tuesday.
Favorite Dish: I always take the veal as a starter and the Black tiger scampi with cocomilk and Baileys as a main dish.... every time again because it's so delicious!

Baja Sardinia is one of those Italian pizzeria/restaurants that are all over Belgium (and Europe, I guess).
Favorite Dish: Their pasta's are OK and the pizza's looked good too. However, when we first came here, maybe 10 years ago, we had a much better impression of this restaurant. The menu had some very special Sardinian dishes, now everything on the menu is as in every other Italian restaurant.
It was OK, nothing more, nothing less.

The food was very good and not expensive. The surroundings were pleasant and there were lots of people using the place, a good sign!
Favorite Dish: It would have to be Stoofvlees and chips as that is real Belgian food. For me it is good because I have had it all my life and it is like home cooking! (only nowadays I am not so inclined to eating meat much)

Located in a beautiful house, in the tEATerkafee you can get a drink or eat. Plain good, no more no less.
Why go then?
Because of their big garden where you can enjoy a nice summersun... At night they light dozens of coloured lights in the trees.
Closed on mondays.

This beautiful white house is one of the symbols of Lier. It started as a storage place for wheat and grain. Later it became a place for storing coal, a lemonade factory, a workshop and since its restoration between 1962 and 1965, a restaurant.
Make sure you get a seat on the boat on a sunny day.

I'm excited about this place.
The food is excellent : they serve flemish, italian and oriental dishes.
The service is impeccable, and we went when it was busy!
Try to get a table next to the window and you've got an amazing view of the 'Zimmertoren'.
It's wise to order a table on weekend evenings, or you've got to search another place to eat.
Favorite Dish: I can't decide!
You've got to try them all, I'm afraid...

Places with a great atmosphere are the terraces you'll find along the somewhat wider streets and of course the squares. Here's the pleasure to sit back and relax with a cool glass of - preferably - Belgian beer and some equally supurb Belgian fries as salty snack (or one of many exquisit sidedishes that this Bourgondian kitchen can offer. Watching people is the sport, while chatting with friends or enjoying the view.

Belgian beer is by far my favourite and especially the geuze-types are treasured by me. "Caves" is one that is traditionally made in Lier and when I say traditional ... I mean traditional. Already in the 14th century there was a brewery producing "Caves". It was located just behind the cityhall and produced enough to get rid of the thirst in all of Lier. With the golden ages and it's citygrowth, soon more then one brewery, specialised in "Caves" was built. But also some other beers were produced in lier, for example "Cnol" (a lighter beer).
