The interior of the café didn't change for years but is well equipped to receive the many cycle tourist touring in the area and looking for a final local beer in this café
The local food like cheese and ham sandwiches is good. I intended to have a "Croque Trappist" - maybe next time
Favorite Dish: I only had sandwiches, but good ones
The staff here was very friendly and helpful as the menu is in Dutch. The food selection is limited, but then again, I didn't really come here for the food. The beer selection, of course, is all Westmalle Brew. You can have the Double is several ways, including one with grenadine. They also offer the Tripple. For food, I had a sample of their cheese and Lasagna. Both very, very tasty !!
Cafe Trappisten is located right across the street from the Westmalle Monastery. Many locals & Dutch come to have lunch at this great Cafe. It situated north of Brussels, between Antwerpen and Breda (Highway E19), take the Exit towards Westmalle and make a right on N 12. The Cafe will be on your left hand side. You can't miss it !!
