De Molen, an authentic Flemish restaurant, is located in an old mill adjacent to NH Genk Hotel. The restaurant is set in a pleasing forest like setting by a stream. The interior is what you would expect in a very old mill, rustic with old beams and beautiful Belgian Blue Stone floors.
Favorite Dish: The menu is extensive for such a small restaurant. Various dishes were offered; pasta, fish, veal, beef, chicken. An suprisingly large beer and wine list is available. Morte Sorbit (cherry beer) is served on tap along with Grimbergen and the local brew 'Crystal'.
The night I ate at De Molen, I chose the fish special; seared swordfish served on a bed of julienne vegetables in a black bean sauce. The typical Belgian potato croquettes were served piping hot with a small bowl of real mayonaise. It was very yummy.

Since there are many different nationalities amongst the people of Genk, we offer a wide range of different cuisines (from Italian, French, Turkish to the famous "Belgian Frittes"). A must for fishlovers is Mare Mondo, where Daniëla and Koen serve great seafood with a southern touch.

I've described this as a steakhouse because they do a lovely steak but what makes this place stand out for me was the friendly service, varied menu, and great quality of food served. They're right in the town centre so you can't miss them.
