The begijnenvijvers are a couple of ponds. People go there to do some fishing.
It is also a great place to do some walks. There are some routes indicated on the plan at the entrance. My favorite one is 9km walk which is indicated by a red triangle. This one goes through many meadows and woods.Very relaxing.
You can also just go over there for a drink at the "Begijntje"

Also at the "in de brand" region there's is a small muddy pond called "Kattepoelke".
People say that in the earlier days people drowned the cats of witches here.

When you are doing the white walk you'll pass this little hill with stairs called the 'Trepkesberg".

"In den brand" is a nice place to do some walks.There are two indicated walks a red and a white one. You have to follow the trees with a red or a white line on it. The indication is pretty poor, which makes it a bit adventurous. Don't worry though the place is too small to get seriously lost.
The place is also good for kids and adults who like to act as kids. they all can play in the sand.

Hechtel isn't really Las Vegas. There are not many places to go out. One good place is Pauls wereld. Untill the end of september 2005 there will still be a restaurant, but this will end in october. From then on there will be more gigs . As well local bands as international bands play here.

Favorite thing: The VVV kantoor (vvv office) is the place where you can get all the tourist information in Belgium.
