'Het Begijnhof' has 38 wallpaintings, which were discovered in 1860 and show some scenes of the life of Mother Maria and other female saints. Unique!

The old tower of the abbey is a must for everyone who visits Sint-Truiden. You will have to climb 196 stairs but once you arrive at the top, the view over the city and its surroundings is wonderful.
An entrance ticket costs 2 euro.

During the months April and May, you should walk or bike around the many fields of Sint-Truiden. You will be amazed by the beauty of trees with the blossom.
You can rent a bike in the city center and follow de 'Bloesemroute'.

The Château de la Motte is a very pretty castle. A real castle, with towers, a moat and surrounded by a beautiful park.
The public parts of the castle consist of a large party room, a grand café where you can eat snacks, and a gastronomic restaurant.
We had high expectations of this beautiful place but were somewhat disappointed.
There wasn't a lot of choice on the menu because April is high season (blossom). They had a Sunday menu at 34 euro and a few à la carte dishes. The food wasn't bad but just nothing special.
The dining room wasn't very clean and the service was very, very slow. This is such a pity for a place that has so much potential.
Favorite Dish: Our menu:
asparagus Flemish style
entrecôte tranchée with 'Motte'-sauce and French fries
soup of seasonal fruit with vanilla ice and strawberry coulis

We just love this restaurant. You can see the chef at work in his open kitchen, preparing excellent food. It is a small but very charming place in an old cellar (Reservation is necessary). In summertime, there is a lovely terrace.
Favorite Dish: The lamb dish with fresh rosemary and a delicous pasta !

Our local football club is not that spectacularly good, but every home game has a great atmosphere. The club can count on very loyal fans and even if their performances are not that good, every inhabitant is proud of his club with nickname ' de kanaries'
