Exploring the area around Sint-Truiden is most easily done by bike. Limburg has the best cycling routes in the country. One place worth stopping at is the local brewery of the village of Kerkom. Great to try the selection of own brews, while sitting outside watching the sun set.
The beers are also available in pubs located in the city of Sint-Truiden.
According to their website:
Kerkom is situated in the centre of Haspengouw. This region is not only rich in orchards and fruit plantations. The cyclist is as happy as a king in Haspengouw.

Limburg is a good place to bike around. It's a very rural (in Belgian terms) province.
You can get a map with a big routenetwork of cycletracks. It cost's 7.5 euros.
And you can get it at tourist information offices (vvv-kantoor). Maps of other provinces and areas in Belgium and Holland will probably be available as well.
