Kasteel Ooidonk
An absolute "must" is a visit tho the Ooidonk castle, an outstanding example of Flemish-spanish architecture of the 16th century. A unique opportunity to hike through the woods, the surroundings and the castle-park . The park is open all year. Entrance : 0,74 euro.
The castle is open for visitors from 1st of May until 15th of September.

A very light and airy restaurant, buffet style. Wine, soft drinks and coffee included.
Favorite Dish: You choose what you want at their buffet. First course is stir fried meat & vegetables (make your choice, the "hakketakker" will prepare it for you).
Main course is barbecue (a wide choice of various meats, vegetables, fresh fruit, sauces, ...).
Dessert is a huge buffet with ice creams, puddings, pastry, etc. Ask my husband ...

At the "hakketak" desk you compose the first course out of fresh chopped meat, vegetables, different sauces.
The "hakketakker" cooks them for you.
For the main course it is up to you to grill at the Gallic barbecue the different kinds of meat, vegetables and fruit of your choise and serve them with potatoes or gratin dauphinois and sauces. A varied dessert buffet and coffee. Delicious !

Favorite thing: Make a walk to the beautiful Castle of Ooidonk. The castle itself is only open to visitors on weekends from 1st May until 15th September. The gardens are open to the public year round.
The castles and the park are very well maintained.

Deinze is where some of our dear VT friends live. They invited us on a sunny day in September to spend the day in their hometown along the river Leie. Thank you Ann & Geert for the beautiful day.
