Zaventem Airport
I have to admit that one of my favorite places in Belgium is located in the Flemish Brabant: Brussels Airport (BRU) is in a small town called Zaventem. Obviously, this is also my least favorite place in Belgium whenever I return from holidays.Officially named Brussels Airport, Welcome to Europe, it is manageably small and conveniently placed near the city, with a direct rail link (also to Leuven and Liège – and hopefully soon to Antwerp). In spite of these characteristics, ill-planed terminals require too much walking for boarding the planes (particularly for destinations in the Schengen area) and the transfer to the city (in spite of the short distance) in often filthy trains is Victorian-era slow.
