We didn't eat here but it looks a nice place. It's worth mentioning, just so visitors will know that there is somewhere they can get a meal if they want.
Favorite Dish: No idea about the menu either, because I didn't take a look.
The Castle Of Horst is famous from the Belgian comic book of "The Red Knight".
In addition, each year there is a sort of medieval re-enactment festival. It was held 15th to 18th August in 2002, so we missed it by a week or so.
Waterproof clothing, Umbrella, stout shoes
Photo Equipment: A waterproof casing or even a lens hood would be useful in the rain. A lot of my pictures suffered from water drops on the lens.
Apparently this is a good place too for hiking or walking. It was intended that we would do a small walk, but the weather was too bad (well, too bad for the way we were dressed) so we didn't do it.
See B_Caro's page for her impressions of hiking in this area (in the rain).

Equipment: Waterproof clothing and Boots.
Cycling is very popular in Belgium, and it's easy to see why with this beautiful and tranquil countryside to cycle through (and in this region, without many hills). Group cycling seems to be very popular, maybe a cycling club or a big group of friends. This group passed us while we were at Horst.
Equipment: Bike, waterproofs.
The damp weather did not deter these keen fishermen around the lake. I don't know aboyt the access to this fishing, maybe it's private, so don't just come here expecting to be able to fish!
Equipment: Fishing rod, keep net, waterproofs.
During Steve & Susans visit to Belgium I also took them to Horst.
Unfortunately the weather was so bad that I skip the walk I had in mind and we drove to Hoegaarden.
