When you really are with a bigger group it might be interesting to hire a bus yourself. The bus drivers usually know the way around and you don't have to worry about losing your friends in traffic.
It is fun to be able to talk to every one while getting to your destination and it is fun to be the "leader" of the group and have the microphone `-)
Our chauffeur of that day was Leo and it was the 2nd time he was my driver. He drove me and my foreign students earlier this year to Keukenhof.
These hired busses are comfortable, some have drinks or toilet on board (best ask in advance if the toilet is open) and they have airco and in case you have kids, some have a video as well.
You can hire them for a different amount of people, from 30 ; 40 to 50.
When I organise trips, I usually prefer hiring a private bus like this.
I am very satisfied about this company and I have applied on them a numerous time.
You need to take a reservation quite in advance.
This old fashioned streetcar will take you to Montgomery where you can take the Metro further into the centre of Brussels.
This is still an old type of tram that is driving this tracks. Each tram has it's own identifying number.
There are people who really like to go tram spotting.
For those there is the Museum of public transportation (tram museum) at Sint Pieters Woluwe (Auderghem)
If you come by car :
from Brussels Center: follow Avenue de Tervueren, cross the Ring East (Vierarmen or Quatre-Bras Cross), still strait on along the second part of Avenue Tervuren (Tervurenlaan) At the last roundabout, if you turn right, you end up in Tervuren center; if you turn left direction Leuven, you'll arrive along the Africa museum.
By metro/Tram : Tervuren Africa museum is the end station of tram 44.
The best way to get from Brussels to Tervuren is to take the no. 44 tram from Montgomery metro station. After leaving the Brussels suburbs, the tram runs through the beautiful Foret de Soignes on its own tracks away from the road.
Several busses are having a stop in front of the Museum of Central Africa.
Not all are going to Brussels. Be sure you get on the right one! `-)
What a lovely tram ride to take to get from what was my home in Tervuren into the centre of Brussels (Montgomery)
Probably one of the nicest tram rides in the world through the Foret de Soignes
