This is the main street where most action takes place (car accidents, shopping,..). There are plenty of shops lurking for some attention. It's a great place if you plan to do some shopping, so forget Antwerp, Brussels, etc. Hofstade is the place to be!!

There are frequent buses to and from hofstade to Mechelen. There is only one hourly bus to Vilvoorde, but it doesn't run on holidays. Always ask for info on departures first at the bus info desk at Mechelen train station.

During weekdays there is one hourly train to Mechelen and 1 to Brussels. The train to Brussels leaves at 16 past the hour and the one to Mechelen at 44 past the hour. Cost to Brussel is 3.2€ single ride and to Mechelen it's 1.5€. There are no trains during the weekends and on holidays. Make sure you get to the right platform or you might miss your train ;-) !!
