me along the beach of Blankenberge

Favorite thing: I am not really in the attire of going to the beach but who cares! you can do many things here like walking along the shore just like we did..dip your finger tip to the water, watch those people around, watch the kids making some sand sculpture or just sit on the sand and feel the seabreeze.

    Blankenberge seashore

Favorite thing: This is Blankenberge seafront view from the shore. Those building are mostly appartments and you can find a few hotels too but I believe there are more hotels and lodging Inns at the downtown just behind the seafront buildings.

Fondest memory: loaded of good seafoods and local restaurants and cafes....plus, some amusements centers.

    Shopping!

by funkymama Written Aug 30, 2002

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: SHOPPING IN BLANKENBERGE. Shopping centre: Cosy shopping and walking streets, traffic-free in the summer. The main street is the Kerkstraat from the station to the Sea-Promenade.

Fondest memory: Blankenberge has more to offer than nice beaches. Everybody will enjoy a walk through the busy shopping streets of the center of the city. In earlier times Blankenberge was nothing more than a small fishermen village at the coast. Because of its rather strategic position, the little village was often plundered and destroyed. Also the sea sometimes proved to be not only a source of income, but also a source of destruction through flooding. It was in the 19th century that the small town became one of the first Belgian seaside-resorts visited by tourists. Around 1850 the first (but not the last) hotels were constructed.

Favorite thing: Here they are after a walk along seashore. There are many seats for beach that you can rent, even a mini house that serves as 'lockers' for all your things like clothes, picnic foods, beach accessories.....you can rent the mini house for your belongings safety while on the beach, I just don't know how much it cost.
