Duc de Bourgogne: Nice view at the Duke
Despite its location near the centre of the tourist honey-pot, this is a well-regarded establishment, with impeccable service. Try to book a table overlooking the canal.
Favorite Dish: Fish Soup of the North Sea
Grilled steak in a honey sauce

Duc de Bourgogne: Good food, atmosphere & Service
They have a location to die for, right over the canal in the very centre of Brugge (Bruges) with the old buildings of the town centre floodlit in the evening. Swans and ducks float by, as do pleasure trips if you are there before dark. Get a window table if you can. Even if you can't get the window table, the interior tapestries and paintings make it a superb location to eat and to luxuriate.
The service was exemplary: attentive but not 'in your face'.
The food was better than it seemed when reading the menu and there were excellent little touches with 'amuse bouches' (not mentioned on the menu) served before the main dishes of the meal arrived.
We ate from the 'Table d'hote' choosing the 'Menu Royale', with the option to have the restaurant include the wines in the overall price. This was a good idea as the wines complemented the food well and were served appropriately; enough for anyone who is not there to drink themselves under the table. I ordered coffee and the waiter asked if I'd like a second cup. They charged me the extra for only one.
A great experience! Enjoy your meal. It will not be cheap but you can't expect this kind of quality on a shoestring.
Favorite Dish: Pate de foie gras
Duc de Bourgogne: Ask for the table over the canal in the alcove!
The table in the alcove over the canal was beautiful and as the restaurant doesn't operate a no-smoking policy is a little separated from the rest of the diners. Its actually just below the sign in the photo!
The food is fabulous and the staff are very friendly. It is expensive but for a special occasion, well worth every penny..
Favorite Dish: All of it was gorgeous, but I did particularly like the Amuse Bouche that the waiter brought to us which had lobster amongst other things and for main, probably the best monkfish I have ever tasted!!
