The Tintin Shop - Official Tintin Shop: Hunting for Tintin Memorabilia

by xuessium Written Mar 19, 2006

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Folks who missed stocking up on Tintin souvenirs and memorabilias (arguably Belgium's most famous and greatest comic hero) while in Brussels, can have a second chance to do so in Brugge.

The entire interior of the shop was awashed in deep red; very striking!

What to buy: Unlike the Tintin shop in Brussels, this shop caters only to Tintin. Nothing but Tintin souvenirs and memorabilia here.

    Unbelievable!

What to pay: I bought a T-shirt, good quality stuff at 25Euros!

Deleye: Deleye / Be Kult (Roeselare)

by Innovator Updated Feb 18, 2006

There are 3 Deleye shops in West-Flanders : Brugge, Roeselare, Kuurne.

In Brugge it's out of the centre (better drive by car)
Roeselare is a city that is +-20 km further, there Deleye has a subdivision BeKult, very hip brands like : GSUS, G-STAR, DIESEL, ENERGIE, ARMANI, ..

I don't know if Deleye Brugge has the same style (maybe more classic?) but worth checking out if you're not into mainstream clothes!

What to buy: Clothes for male, female, kids, ....everything very modern

    Open :
    Monday 13.30 - 18.30
    Tuesday - Friday 9.30 - 12u.30 & 13u.30 - 18.30
    Saturday 9.30 - 18.30
    Sunday: 10.00-12.00.

What to pay: Average to more expensive

    Belgian Lace

by Krumlovgirl Written Nov 17, 2004

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

What to buy: You should definitely buy Belgian lace while in Belgium. Unless, of course, you're not that into lace to begin with. While I can't sew worth a lick, I did manage to find some really pretty wall hangings, framed pictures, and other lace items that I brought back home with me. You really have to bargain shop, but Brugges has enough souvenir shops to make this easy. I found the prices to be more than reasonable and on the whole, found Brugge to be a bit cheaper than Brussels.

Tax refund at the airport (VAT)

by LolaSanFrancisco Written Mar 26, 2003

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

What to buy: Remember to save all your receipts (Value Added Tax: VAT) and when your in the airport dicking around tell your flight leave, go to the VAT station and get your refund for you tax.

Europe's Value Added Tax ranges from five percent to 22 percent per country, averaging 16 percent overall. A bit of a stealth tax, VAT is wrapped right into the purchase price. So if the VAT is 20 percent, the tax portion of an €100 item would be €16.70, not €20 as you might expect. Rates change, so check with merchants when you're there.

Know where to get your refund. If you buy merchandise in a European Union country, process your documents at your last stop in the EU, regardless of where you made your purchases.
