De Nieuwe Pappegai
If you want to explore quieter spots, try walking along the street and canals to the north of the main square. Walk to the east and enjoy a riverside walk, along which there are several windmills
There are only 3 surviving examples of the many windmillswhich stood along the city walls: the Nieuwe Papegaai (the New Parrot), the Bonne Chiere and the Sint-Janshuysmolen (St John's mill).
A few steps from St. John's mill, there's another 1, called Bonne Chiere. It's also on the place where the city walls once stood.
Take a walk or bike trip out of the city center (it's only 5 minutes on foot) to the windmills that border the city center. They are pretty cool. Some of them work and you can go into one of them.
