Almost all houses in the main street "Kerkstraat" are restaurants. They are all very cosy and inviting. Their facades are fresh painted in white, clean, neat...
Around 11 pm the whole street smells good of garlic or fried onions...
One should think that there should be a fierce competition among these restaurants, what should result in sharp prices...
No way!
A family of four easily can spend 140 euros and a lot of waisted time for lunch.
Fun Alternatives: We found a little café/restaurant (Estaminet Soetkin) at the corner of the Kerkstraat and the Damse Vaart Zuid , where we got a big bowl of home made soup with bread and butter for 3 euros. Wonderful!

What bothered me the most, was the heavy traffic coming through the main street of Damme. Along this main street, you find a lot of cafes with nice terraces in front of the building next to the street, but with all this traffic, it was not enjoyable. Too noisy and smelling (from the cars).
Fun Alternatives: When the weather is nice and you want to sit outside, try to find a cafe or restaurant with a courtyard.
