Although far away from the beach, it's a lovely place to have a drink or something to eat. It is located close to the train station and the camping site of Heist.
The restaurant is an old farm house dating from the 19th century. It has a big garden with playground for the kids.

A lovely place for drinks and snacks or lunch. You can sit on the terrace on the boardwalk, on a covered terrace on the Heldenplein or just inside where everything has been refurbished in Spring 2005.
We like to come here for our afternoon tea /coffee and dessert.

They are specialised in fine and delicious desserts. Give it a try but not on Wednesday because than you will find yourself for a closed door, like I did last Autumn.
Favorite Dish: "Coffee Delta", it comes with liquor and delicious fresh cookies and icecream.

This is one of my favourite spots for a cup of coffee and dessert ("Teatime" between 3 and 6 p.m.) or dinner at night. I like the interior, it's nice. The service is very friendly and helpful and the food is just that little bit better than in the other midsize restaurants on the boardwalk.

A fancy fish restaurant in the heart of Heist. The food is superb, a real must if you don't mind paying a little bit more.
Favorite Dish: The "marktmenu" is an excellent choice. For lunch, you can have a "lunchmenu" for 19 EUR.

My favourite food shop is this little Italian shop "Tortellini. They sell Italian cheese, ham, sausages, wine, olive oil, bread ... but also warm meals like soup, home-made pizzas, quiches and pastas. Very fresh and delicious!
What to buy: When I go into the shop, I always want to buy everything because it all looks so good :-)

Every year on the 15th of August, a procession and consecration of the sea takes place in Heist. The procession starts at about 10 a.m. in the centre of Heist and goes via Knokkestraat to the park and back via the promenade to the Heistplein. In front of the Heistplein, around 11 a.m. a mass takes place. In the meantime, boats gather near the beach and around noon, the priest consecrates the boats.

During the summer (July-August), there are all kind of activities going on at the 'Heldenplein' (heroes square), a nice square next to the boardwalk in Heist. All activities are free. You can attend concerts (organised by Belgian television or radio), folk dances, aerobics, flee markets, ...
One special event is the "Kneistival", a musical festival during one week, with national and international famous music groups. This takes places around the 21th of July.

During July and August, there's a folkloric market every Thursday between 2 and 6 p.m.
You can watch people making handcrafts, there's a flea market, a normal market and the local shops have a little sales.
