Northsea (Frans) had made the arrangements for the food during the Ieper meeting. And we must say that he did a great job.
The food was deliscious, and the deal with the restaurant was just great.
For lunch we got a dish with different vegetables and a french bread (une baguette), with that there was a dish with ham, pate, cheese and americain (prepared chopped meat) and lets nor forget the soup.
Price for lunch : 8 euro
For dinner there was kind of a multiple choice menu :
For starter one could choose : seafood cocktail or Ganda ham with melon
Main dish : Iepersch tapjesvlees (a local speciality - pickeld and larded porc) and pig roast meat "archiduc"
Price for diner : 15 euro
Favorite Dish: Ieper tapjesvlees
We read about Old Tom in the Market Square in Ieper and were chuffed to find it easily. We didn't stay long however. The place smelt greasy and they didn't have any mussels. After a quite enjoyable beer our party of six left. There are better place in Ieper.
Old Tom has a busy terrace at the Market square and a cosy inside bar and restaurant.
There are also 9 hotel rooms in the upper floors.
Favorite Dish: The soup as a starter is excellent.
