This is a cracking little pub opposite the railway station and Kusttram terminus. Despite its location it is more of a locals pub than a transit one and service is friendly. The pub is sort of "American-themed" but not in a trashy way and features beer paraphernalia and a collection of US licence plates.
Also useful if you need an internet connection with WiFi and a couple of PC's for customer's use.
de Babbelaer is the ground floor cafe-bar of the Prins Boudewijn Hotel but despite being a hotel bar is in fact a popular local eating and meeting place. I only dropped in for an afternoon beer on my way towards the seafront and found it a comfortable, characterful pub with a laid-back ambience and friendly barstaff.
By all accounts the bar is open until late and serves food to catch the late shift returning from the Zeebrugge docks.
Nice building too.
