Loving Knokke for it's boulevard "Lippenslaan" stalling many exlusive shops, but also shops for the man in the street. Anyhow this place is a place called "Did you see me ! "
I love the second picture i took in a cold february 2008 month, a group of young people playing guitar on the beach.

Next to the Dutch border in the north of Knokke lies a unique nature reserve. It's the most important mud flat and salting area in Belgium.
It's a paradise for bird lovers. You will find many birds here looking for a breeding place or a place to stay during winter.
As a result of the salt sea water, this nature reserve has some specific flora that you won't find elsewhere, like the rare sea lavender.
There is also a bird sanctuary in the Zwin with a wide range of native birds.
Don't forget to bring along boots and a telescope.
The Zwin is open from 9 am to 7 pm from Easter to September and closes at 5 pm during wintertime. Closed on Wednesdays from November to the end of March.
Entrance fee for adults: 5 EUR

The Butterfly Garden is a green house not far from the nature reserve the Zwin with hundreds of colourful exotic butterflies. It's not very big, between 30 min to an hour will do to see it all.
There is a path leading among tropical plants where butterflies are fluttering from flower to flower. If you are lucky they will even come and sit on your shoulder. Be careful not to step on butterflies sitting on the path.
It's a very educational place where you will learn everything about the butterflies and you may be witness of a butterfly emerging from its pupa and spreading its wings for the first time.
Don't overclothe when entering the Butterfly Garden, because the butterflies and plants require high temperatures and a tropical atmosphere.
The Butterfly Garden is open from Easter to the first weekend of October from 10 am to 5:30 pm. Entrance fee for adults: 4,40 EUR.

The Zwijn is a natural reserve where you can admire local and offshore nature may it be plants or animals alike. Children will be delighted as they can feed the ducks using a (reasonably priced) foodbag available at the entrance.

A real gastronomic institution in Knokke is the waffle-house 'Mother Siska'. Already in 1892 Siska made her delicious waffles for the visitors of Knokke.
Her 12 children continued the tradition. The specialty of the house : the waffles in five-hearts shape.
