Waeghe Says: Very good restaurant, in the old days it was one of the best restaurants of Knokke. It changed owners, changed locations, it is now a small restaurant. You should try the "tongreepjes" with tartare. Brilliant dish that is well known around Knokke. Tongreepjes off course

Knokke is a shopping paradise.
Waeghe Says: Shops are open on sunday. Only on tuesday or wednesday you might have bad luck. Some of the smaller shops are closed on those days. In Knokke you can find all the larger brands, Cartier, Donaldson, River woods, Hilfiger etc.

In Knokke you better leave your car in a parking. Parking in the streets can cost you handsfull of money. Parking tickets are expensive and if you don't have one you can expect a police note on your car.

The 'Zwin' is one of the beautiful and scientifically most important natural reserves of Belgium. The role that this silted up sea-arm played in the history of medieval Flanders cannot be overrated. Via this sea-arm that had been created by a flooding of the North-Sea, ships from all over the (then known) world could sail to the city of Bruges. Bruges rose to become one of the most important medieval European ports. Because of the international cloth-trade the Flemish hinterland also profited from this economically very favorable situation. When in the aftermath of the high Middle-Ages, the 'Zwin' started to silt up, Bruges lost all advantages and turned into a small provincial city. Until it was discovered by modern tourism ...........
