Knokke Things to Do

  • Knokke-Knokke Heist

Loving Knokke for it's boulevard "Lippenslaan" stalling many exlusive shops, but also shops for the man in the street. Anyhow this place is a place called "Did you see me ! "I love the second picture i took in a cold february 2008 month, a group of young people playing guitar on the beach.

Knokke Nightlife

  • For A Final Beer On The Way Back To...

This is a cracking little pub opposite the railway station and Kusttram terminus. Despite its location it is more of a locals pub than a transit one and service is friendly. The pub is sort of "American-themed" but not in a trashy way and features beer paraphernalia and a collection of US licence plates. Also useful if you need an internet...

  • Ideal For A Late Afternoon Beer

de Babbelaer is the ground floor cafe-bar of the Prins Boudewijn Hotel but despite being a hotel bar is in fact a popular local eating and meeting place. I only dropped in for an afternoon beer on my way towards the seafront and found it a comfortable, characterful pub with a laid-back ambience and friendly barstaff.By all accounts the bar is open...

Knokke is the terminus station with hourly direct services to and from Brussels, journey time about 1 hour 30 mins, which stop at Brugges, Gent and other intermediate stations. There are also commuter shuttle services to and from Brugges. The station is next door to the Kusttram terminus and has only very basic services such as left luggage...

Knokke is the northern terminus of Belgium's Kusttram which is a tram service running the whole length of the coast from the Dutch border down to Adinkerke close to the French border. • I love chocolate!

Amazing chocolates... this is... ART !!! No doubt.Never tasted chocolates like this ones.Flavours: fresh mint, sea-salt, passion fruit, lemon with coriandre, mango with balsamico, fresh raspberrys, violet... to much choise!A much higher level than the big chains like Godiva and Leonidass or Marcoloni. But the prices are reasonable in this shop. I...

  • Knokke is a shopping paradise.

Shops are open on sunday. Only on tuesday or wednesday you might have bad luck. Some of the smaller shops are closed on those days. In Knokke you can find all the larger brands, Cartier, Donaldson, River woods, Hilfiger etc.

  • Lippenslaan

The Lippenslaan is one of the most important shopping streets in Knokke. The closer you get to the beach, the more exclusive are the shops. The shops are also opened on Sunday.

Knokke Local Customs

  • If You Need An Internet Connection

Tracks and Travellers is a cracking little pub immediately opposite the railway station. As well as being a friendly locals bar they also offer WiFi and a couple of PC's for customers use. I didn't notice whether there were any charges as I didn't need to use it myself but I'm sure it'll be relatively cheap even if they do.

  • Sint Margarethakerk

When you arrive by Kusttram or train you'll immediately note the impressive church across the road. This is the Immaculate Heart of Mary and St. Margaret Church which is the town's main Catholic place of worship. The original building dates from the 14th century and was substantially expanded in 1852 to 53 and then almost completely rebuilt in 1955...

  • Arty Knokke

Even though I only had the briefest of visits this time round I got the immediate impression that Knokke is quite an arty, creative, community. There's public artworks, modern and classical, dotted all over the place and during the summer there's a "Sculpture Link" festival of works along the seafront. There are also many private art galleries,...

Knokke Warnings and Dangers

  • by Waeghe Written Jun 2, 2004

    2 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

In Knokke you better leave your car in a parking. Parking in the streets can cost you handsfull of money. Parking tickets are expensive and if you don't have one you can expect a police note on your car.

Knokke Off The Beaten Path

  • venteeocho's Profile Photo

by venteeocho Written Oct 24, 2003

The 'Zwin' is one of the beautiful and scientifically most important natural reserves of Belgium. The role that this silted up sea-arm played in the history of medieval Flanders cannot be overrated. Via this sea-arm that had been created by a flooding of the North-Sea, ships from all over the (then known) world could sail to the city of Bruges. Bruges rose to become one of the most important medieval European ports. Because of the international cloth-trade the Flemish hinterland also profited from this economically very favorable situation. When in the aftermath of the high Middle-Ages, the 'Zwin' started to silt up, Bruges lost all advantages and turned into a small provincial city. Until it was discovered by modern tourism ...........
