Koksijde-Bad Travel Guide

In Oostduinkerke, 4 kilometers from Koksijde-bad in the direction of Ostend, the fisherfolklore is still alive. It's the only place where you can see the schrimpfischers on horseback.

To arrive in Koksijde-Bad, from Brussels, you take a train to Ostende and their you take the tram to De Panne. It's about one hour travelling with the tram, almost near the coast.
The second way is taking the Train to De Panne and their you take the tram in the direction of Knokke.

On the end of the years 1800, the fischermen build little houses, where they stay when they were on land.
Most of the fischermen went fishing by Norway en Iceland on codfish.
We call them Ijslandvaarders.
Those little were always white and had no etages.
The foto shows a chapel in the same style, build in 1906, where the fischerman went praying before taking off.
This chapel is called de keunekapel.
