    Free parking is the exception.

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Filip, co-organizer of the VT meeting, informed us that there was a large free parking near the restaurant 't Mouterijtje were we had dinner.
Indeed this parking is located on the island just north of the Broeltorens between the Damkaai and Ijzerkaai. But be careful the parking near the Broelkaai and Damstraat is a paypark. You have to go further eastwards to get in the free parking. Look well at the signs because the police of Kortrijk are actively chasing drivers who did not pay.

Please note that the car from the photo does NOT belong to VT member Myriam C.

(NB. I wrote this tip to show that I'm able to write other things than about museums).

Train FYI & Lockers at Kortrijk Station

by steedappeal Written Nov 13, 2011

There is a small bank of lockers at the Kortrijk station. The charge is 3.50 Euros. Not sure if you can access 24 hours or leave overnite. You must have EXACT change since they do not accept credit cards and no change back is given. This was very handy as I stowed my stuff, walked around for a few hours and went on to Brussels. My ticket from Ghent to Kortrijk cost 6.30 Euros one-way (half hour journey). NOTE: NOT all trains are direct from Kortrijk to Brussels (11.80 Euros & just under an hour)- some transfer in Ghent. It is always helpful to check the Belgian rail site in advance since they follow a predictable pattern (i.e. direct vs. connecting runs) at specified times throughout the day and night.

    Kortrijk Roadworks & Parking

    by pieter_jan_v Written May 24, 2009

I experienced a challenge to reach the station, when I took the first highway exit and was confronted with major road works. The advantage was that I had to do a free tour of half of the city.

The best way to go around road works is to take the R8 circular highway around Kortrijk and drive a quart of the circle around thr road works.

Best is to consult the website below and have a look at the parking possibilities too.

I found Parking easy and relative cheap.

Left or Right? Allowed or not? Better don't park here!
