Kortrijk 1302 Museum & Visitor Centre, Kortrijk

Schouwburg Kortrijk

The Schouwburg or better "Cultuur Centrum Kortrijk" is the local theater.

The theater was build between 1912 and 1920 in a Flamish post-Renaissance style and was designed by architect Jan Robert Vanhoenacker.

The main theather can house 800 visitors. There are smaller halls in the building, like the ballet hall, the arenatheater and the basement galery.

In 1968 the building was remodelled, distorting the original character of the building. Luckely this was restored by the 2000 restauration. At the same time the Alberola glass roof was added.

Unenthused Tourist Officials- "surprising"!

The Kortrijk tourist info center is well-designed but not much enthusiasm from the staff. Very perfuctory. Map and a few hand gestures and that's about it! I even lost my own enthusiasm to visit the Flax Museum which is a bit out of the center city (take bus 13 at the rail station). The center is located in the Bejinhofpark.
