When a grain of sand enters an oyster shell, the oyster covers it with nacre, a substance the oyster also uses to coat the inside of its shell. Layer upon layer of nacre is deposited on the grain of sand, which gradually turns into a lustrous pearl. But…only 1 out of 15.000 wild oysters contains a pearl!
So keep on searching!
If you want to go to a nude beach you'll have to go to Bredene. It is Oostende's neighbour. The only official nude beach in Belgium. I must say the beach is to small its only 200meters long. On sunny days it is much to crowded, the sad thing is the beach behind the nude beach is almost empty but don't go nude there or you will be in trouble. To go there take the tram in the direction of Knokke and get off at Renbaan, follow the signs and you'll reach the beach. To all of you, if you go to a nudebeach don't wear swimwear because there are still much more textile beaches than nudebeaches.
A beach sure looks different with snow!
Yes my dear friends ... this pic was taken in Oostende in Febr. 2003 !
Not to miss,a walk along the Pier of Ostend, where you can take,as it where,a walk above the sea. After a refreshing walk, there is a possibity to enjoy a drink on the terrace at the end of the Pier.
International Beach Volleyball, the Spanish team against the Russian team, and the Spanish won this match.

I just love the long walks along the seaside. Especially during the autumn & winter.
And I'm not the only one, my two friends here even enjoy a swim in November.
