t'Waterhuis is most famous for it's beers, and local people come eat here often.
In winter it is very cosy eating a pasta close to the fireplace. A great alternative for the usual restaurant! t'Waterhuis is well known for many years, even before WWII.
Also especially with English beer-tasters, but the atmosphere stays calm ;)

This restaurant is really my favorite in Ostend.
You are welcomed by the friendly chief and you can choose your place against the window, or if you are in a group, there is a second place with a long table for everybody.
This restaurant has delicious plates of real Mexican food, pancakes filled with chicken, special plates with mushrooms, melted cheese and meat, a wide choice of plates...and not to forget the great cocktails!
If you ask the chief a coke-light, he brings it to you, saying ' a coke without whiskey for you?'
Everything is well presented.
If you say it is your birthday,the chief gives you a belt with 10 glasses and a free bottle of tequila which you may share with your friends. You also get real Mexican hat to put on. You get a lemon,salt and you can start filling the 10 glasses for you friends...and drink some real tequila...
Then if the atmosphere is really moody, he puts on his micro,and he starts a sort of show. You may sing for your birthday if you want :)
This place is great for groups and also for couples. The restaurant is clean, tidy, nice and atmospheric.

Well, this isn't exactly a restaurant, but along the Vissers Kaai, I stopped at one of the tent-like stalls and bought some fish stew. All of the stalls sell it, so I just decided to choose one. When I walked up to the lady who was dishing it up, I asked what it was and she said, "Fish stew. Do you like spicy or no spicy." So, I decided to order the one with a little kick to it.
For 1.50 Euros, it was worth trying, but I have to be honest and say that it wasn't that great. There were big chunks of, well, I'm not sure what they were, but I'll describe them as rubbery slugs of some kind. I'll eat anything and the taste wasn't bad, but my jaw was tired after trying to chew these suckers for about ten minutes and I didn't even finish it.
Next time, I'll order something else. There were all sorts of more recongnizable and scrumptious looking things on sale here. Leave a Comment

The restaurants in Ostend serve delicious food. They specialise in Dover Sole, Shrimp croquettes and ‘tomato filled with shrimps’. There is plenty of choice in Ostend. You will find a whole row of restaurants along the quay side. Gourmet dinners, low budget lunches, foreign food ( Greek, Chinese, Italian …) a candlelight dinner, all of this is possible in Ostend. There is a large variety of restaurants spread all over town. In the centre of town there is the main market place called the “Wapenplein “ In the middle there is a kiosk with a band stand, surrounded by plenty of pubs and tearooms . Do'nt forget to pay a visit to Stene, at the edge of Ostend. It is a picturesque place with lots of restaurants. Leave a Comment Theme: Other
