City Tours, Oostende
Seaside town with nothing much to offer.
2) the shopping street
We even took a long walk to Media Markt - the so called biggest electronics store in Belgium. Or did we hear wrong? Even the supermarket is bigger than this store.
While walking to/from the media markt - we notice this town is actually quite dead with a lot of apartments/shops "TE KOOP" which is FOR SALE in the local language. Lots of apartments are barely occupied, looks kind of deserted.
Economy is quite dead here except for the shopping street, even the seaside buildings(apartments) have a lot of "TE KOOP" signages, buildings were rather run down in this town.
If you like the sea, go for it.
If you want shopping, this is definitely not the town unless you want to buy tabacco, infact the price of cigarettes are the same all over Belgium.
here you can see how easy and nice it is......
some 100 km. along the coast.........again, see the plan in the first entry...you can ride from Knokke in the North to De Panne in the South!! and believe me you will enjoy it!
Hop on and hop off and enjoy!
Have a beer, a "frites" and have a great time!
HAVE a trip by the VLAAMSE KUSTTRAM.......
a tram along the coast for some 100 km. and it will take you some 2 1/2 hrs. but.....you can get on and off wherever you want......
What better and more interesting could you do on a lovely summer's day, I wonder?
Dont forget: YOU CAN BUY A DAYCARD which is cheaper .......
It is possible to take a tour around the city in a specially built mini-train or by horse-drawn carriage. The coach-drivers are very helpful in explaining the places of interest and sights.
During the summer there is the annual jazz pub-tour. All the pubs participating in the tour have live music (jazz, blues, pop, rock, etc.) You can get from one pub to another on foot or by special coaches, horse-drawn carriages and trains and enjoy all sorts of different musical styles.
Discover Oostende from a new perspective. You will find the coaches waiting for you at the Klein Strand (Visserskaai).
