    Another Centrally Located Park

The Maria Hendrikapark is more of an activity park compared to its gentile neighbour, the Leopold Park. The wooded area is tucked in the southwest corner of the city, behind the ferry dock, and is laid out around a set of man-made lakes. It is criss-crossed with a network of foot and cycle paths with both paved and woodland sections and seems especially popular with joggers.

There's a family-orientated activity centre on one of the main lakes with mini-golf, pedalos, cafeteria and kids playground. Unfortunately being March there wasn't a lot happening, and the cafeteria was closed, but with its watertowers and scattered public artworks this is still a pleasant park to wander.

    MARIA HENDRIKA PARK.
The park is called ‘t’bosje’ (The wood) in Ostend. A 45 hectares of traffic free park, with lovely footpaths, jogging circuits, fishponds, rowing boats, watercycles and a playground.

Relax in the middle of Ostend's green area, on the Maria Hendrika Park island, and let the kids play around.
