Ferry / Ship / Yacht, Oostende
On my page intro I mentioned this ferry line. We used them only because our Eurostar train journey was cancelled.
The sailing to / from Ramsgate takes around five hours, depending on weather conditions.
Everything went very easily, and we enjoyed our crossings, will hopefully use them again in the future.
The majority of vehicles on board were HGV's with only very few cars, this meant there is loads of room in the passenger areas. No foot passengers are accepted so you do need your own transport.
From England on the mv Primrose and return for us on mv Eurovoyager.
Prices are pretty good too, no complaints at all.
by car, coach, taxi, plane, bike, motorhome, train or.........by boat!!
You can e.g. come by the TransEuropa Ferries...(from Great Britain trothe Continent.....or arrive on your own yacht.....see that harbour in this city's centre....what more could you wish for??
most important to use are your own feet in comfy shows, the Public Transport is reliable, frequent and punctual, you can rent a car, hire a bik, also for children there are all kinds of nice, funny means of transport!!
INFO: TOERISME OOSTENDE
The main reason that most people come here is to get to and from the rest of Belgium (except for day shoppers). So here's the information about the ferry service. This service runs daily between Oostend and the British Isles. It can take you to Dover, Ramsgate, Ipswich, London, Folkestone and Harwich. Despite the opening of the Chunnel between Paris and London, the ferries still do a brisk business. And this is the "scenic route" between Britain and the Continent.
Hoverspeed's Sea Cat service takes two hours from Dover, and is comfortable enough if utterly lacking in salty seafaring character!
