The chance to meet deer and foxes just a few kilometres from the city centre is only one of the pleasures offered by the Soignes forest, 4,383 hectares of magnificent woodland, only 1,654 hectares of which are actually within the Brussels region. The forest provides facilities for picnics, cycle paths and bridle paths, and a network of paths and pedestrian trails, making it a popular destination for walks and relaxation. The mainly beech woods are home to a wide range of flora and fauna and include 5 nature reserves: the Trois Fontaines, the Vuylbeek valley, the "Enfants noyés", the Pinnebeek pond and the Rouge Cloître which is one of the most interesting parts of the forest.
Possibility of guided promenades organized by "Les Amis de la Forêt de Soignes" (Tel: +32 2 215 17 40). Only accessible on foot. Access : Metro : Hermann-Debroux / Tram : 44 / Bus : 96
