Le Cerceuil, Brussels
Le cerceuil, the coffin and yes when you walk into the small long dark hall you are welcomed by darkness, undertaker’s decoration and a really morbid style of interior.
Here you can drink out of skulls and put your glass on top of one of the coffins.
This show comes at a certain price! So don’t go in if you are on low budget!
I wonder how many had indeed their last drink here? How many grabbed towards their failing heart while reading the bill and passed away on one of the really worn out sofa’s.
It is a pity that the music was far from adapted and even the guy behind the counter didn’t dressed up like an undertaker anymore, just t-shirt and jeans.
So huge part of the show was gone… but we didn’t got any reduction on the bill.
I would not recommend this place but as it has a “reputation” well maybe you just want to go in and have one drink so you can say “I was at the Cerceuil”?
Featuring on the pictures are Tompt (Tom and Gonnie) Ralph_II (Ralph)
Dress Code: No dresscode needed. It is so dark you can almost walk in naked without being noticed `-)
Be careful with inflamable cloths... there are a lot of candles there !
This is a very special cafe.It is decorated with coffins, purple velvet etc.It is not the sort of place you want to visit again and again.I also think it's a bit expensive. But you have to see it to believe it.
This place is somewhat macabre. The name means: the coffin. It is decorated with skulls, coffins and other funeral things.
The place is very dark, and the theme is not carried that far, music is not melancholic or funeral style. Drinks are very expensive, and maybe the whole place is not worth the visit.
But if you like something very different go there and order a skull full of beer. (take enough money)
Le Cerceuil (which means 'the coffin')
This is not a typical Brussels cafe but it is very original... Drink a beer out of a glass in the form of skull.. while listening to the 5th symphony of Mozart... Customers are mainly tourists, students, Goths and horror fans.
It's just off Grand Place and looks like an undertaker's from the outside and has coffins for tables, ultra-violet lighting to bring out customers' pallor, and a mixture of Gregorian chant and funeral marches.
You get your beer out of skull mugs. SCARY!
Just off the Grand Place you will find this little curiousity. Rip off for drinks ... but if you drop dead of shock they can always use one of the tables ... they are coffins!
Dress Code: Shrouds ... only joking ... anything goes
'Cercueil' is the French word for Coffin, be warned .
THis is not an ordinary bar, it is full of gothic and Vampirsh decor. you can sit a t a coffin and order a beer, which is served in a totenkopf, EUR 5.00. Or you can order a cocktail EUR 7.00. the cocktails we had were Sperme you demon and Urine de Cadavre, very scary stuff but huge fun :-).
Dress Code: wear whatever ever you like.
Except the coffin, nothing to see...anyway you dont see anything, it's very dark. This special pub appears on all tourist guides but the interest is totally overestimated, like the prices, i paid 8€ for one beer.....
Dress Code: Big wallet required
Cercueil is the French word for coffin.
Take a seat around one of the coffins and order a beer, brought to you in a skull (average price 5€).
Le Cercueil is typical of the darker side of Belgian humour and looks grimly unwelcoming from the outside
LE CERCUEIL (The Coffin) . This café is quite special. It is decorated like a morgue, complete with coffins, skulls, black velvet, etc...
