If you need some stuff at the supermarket, or just want to buy some bargain priced belgian chocolate as gifts, GB was the closest supermarket I could find to the Grand Place area.

What to buy: Great selection of chocolate bars at very good prices.

    De Biertempel: Temple of Beer

De Biertempel stocks around 200 beers and matching glasses. The service is excellent. They were more than pleased to help me with whatever questions I had.

What to buy: You are here for one thing only. BEER. Make sure to pick up a bottle or 3 of Palm. A very difficult beer to find throughout Brussels. You must also go home with a Kwak glass. The Kwak beer is ok, nothing special. Another beer worth trying is Catillon Gueuze, a beer still brewed in a traditional method.

What to pay: Around 2 euro - 10 euro per bottle and 1euro - 15 euro (Kwak) per glass.

    Bières Artisanales: Beer! Belgian beer...

Tucked away a few blocks from the shops around Chaussée d'Ixelles this shop is heaven for beer lovers. They sell 300 beers of which most are Belgian and you can also get the special glasses to go with the beer you buy. Since it is off the tourist path, you won't pay what you pay in Brussels Beer or other downtown shops either and the selection is far wider. This is for serious business.

What to buy: Beer and beer glasses

What to pay: Not as expensive as the tourist beer shops although of course you can find the most popular beer brands in ordinary supermarkets, you won't find that unusual Flemish one you once tried in Brugge anywhere but here. It is fun to browse here and you'll find appropriate glasses too.
