There are many shops and boutiques selling BELGIAN LACE. Many are located near the Grand Place. You can find beautiful handmade lace tablecloths, doilies and wedding veils. The prices may range from inexpensive to very expensive, depending on the size and craftmanship of the item.
I'm crazy about Belgium. That's where I've found my future wife.
She took me to the lace store to buy her wedding veil and a handmade lace tablecloth. I was afraid thinking this would be really too expensive and to 'girly'.
But honestly, the ladies are nice, patient and lace suddenly started to get interesting for me. It's amazing how this is made !
Well I'm not able to explain all this, but if you're in Brussels you should take some time to visit this little store on the Grand-Place. I'm sure you will learn a lot and perhaps you'll start also to appriciate this handcraft.
What to buy:

I'll probably go back for the baby next year if god bless us !

My parents are Belgian. I was born in Ireland and life in Dublin.
Last week we have made a family visit to Brussels. I wanted my husband and children to know where they come from.
My mum was surprised to see the store she bought a christening gown for me is still existing.
It's incredible. They are probably the last real Belgian lace producers. Other store only sell cheap copies from China.
I even used the christening gown my mother bought for my children.

I am not necessarily a chocolate lover, but this is the best chocolate I ever had. I'm not talking about those flat candy bars. I'm talking about the homemade ones in the shop, you buy it by the pound. That was awesome!
Also I bought some handmade lace tablecloths for my friends at a small shop. Now I wish I would have bought one for myself too!
There was a huge tapestry shop and I should have bought one of those. My thinking at the time was that they were expensive, but since then I have compared to others and they were actually a good price. I have also learned that most of the good tapestries in the world were made in Belgium. Everytime I'm touring a castle in another country, they always have tapestries on the wall that are from Belgium.
What to buy:
Lace, of course! The choice is yours!
