The Grand Place is the historical centre of Brussels. Basically, it's a large square surrounded with imposing architecture.

The grand place is an architectural feast for the eyes. It is the detail in the facades that is so outstanding. See illustrations below.

Spectacular central square, with town hall and guild houses.

Plenty places to sit, have beer/coffee and take it all in.

To see an authentic interior, try the restaurant at the Maison des Cygnes

La grande place is the most famous place in Brussels, it's a sqaure surrounded by pretty nice buildings that date from the 17th century. It's a part of the UNESCO's World Heritage since 1998.

    Grand Place Cafes

    by william_navigator Written Nov 22, 2005

Sit outside, drink a beer, soak up the sunshine and people watch. There are numerous cafe's in and around the Grand Place.

Chimay Blue is a good choice but you can't go wrong with most of the brews.

This is where the centre of the old town is located. It's dominated by the marvelous Town Hall, opposite the King's House, and surrounded by ancient guildhouses of the 17th century.

Ofcourse, when visiting Brussels, the Grand Place cannot be forgotten. Definitely one of the most beautiful squares in the world, if not the most beautiful.

The main hub of activity, a huge square with restaurants and bars. A beautiful spectacle when lit at night.

Grand Place is an amazing open square in the middle of Brussels. The guilded buildings are very cool. There are quite a few bars, chocolate shops and restaurants in the vicinity.
