Het Brugs Beertje.: Sample the Many Beers of Belgium

by tylercdurden2004

This pub is a beer lover delight. Belgium produces the best beer in the (sorry germans and czechs) and they do it without bragging. There are so many styles of Belgian beers and this pub has over 300 beers available to sample. The beers are not sold in pints but usually 250-330 ml but tehy packa punch so becareful especially british lager louts used to 4% pints! Some of these beers are 11% or higher and there are so many styles so you can spend along time here before you know it. The staff is very knowledgeable as well which helps if you are not so familiar with Belgian beer. This pub is also world famous. All of them.

Eating and drinking around the clock: Belgian eating and drinking

by Maeve_81

We love to eat.Even in the most basic pub that serves food, everything tastes delicious. There are a lot of varieties from town to town.Normally there's a seperate space for non-smokers and smokers. Tips are included in the price, but it's common to give a tip if you liked the food and the service. We also love to drink.Especially beer. Lots and lots... It's appropiate to drink beer by your meal, just ask advice at your waiter so you can choose something that fits wonderful by the food.

't Frietkot: If you didn't tast this, you weren't in Belgium

by Maeve_81

A 'frietkot' is the name of the place that sells fries (which is typical belgian, not french at all). There are a lot of them in Belgium, you don't have to search a long time. It's common to eat fries on the street, the reason why most of the 'frietkot' haven't got a lot of seats. Not a lot of 'frietkot' have them, but (if you've got the change) order your fries in a 'puntzak' (see the picture). Order 'nen kleine' or 'nen grote' (if you're hungry) and try them with mayonaise or pickles (also typical belgian). If you eat meat, order also a 'curryworst special' , that's meat with mayo, ketchup and onions. Yammie!

It is served with ketchup and salad. There are some variants:Croque Madame: a Croque Monsieur topped with a sunny-side up.Croque Hawai: a Croque Monsieur topped with a slice of ananas.

Burgundian lifestyle

by Helga67

Eating in one of the many restaurants in Belgium is a party. It makes no difference whether you opt for gourmet cooking or for one of the famous mussel restaurants, the meal will always be wonderful and the atmosphere right. The same is true for the countless South-American, Asiatic or African restaurants. Looking for a restaurant? Visit the website mentioned below.

many little cafe's and restaurats are located around the many waterways in Brugges, just take your pick and relax a fine glas of belgian beer or coffee often served with a little belgian chocolate

several frietkotten: Friet

by tompt

In Belgium it is easy to have a snack between meals. There are many places where you can buy friet. Belgium fries are a sort of national dish. You can have your fries with all sorts of sauces. Just try some, they are always good.A website with fun and fries: http://www.fries.be/

Belgian cuisine

by DanielF

The choice of restaurants in Belgium is huge and with a good value for money. Restaurants of many international specialities are abundant in the cities as an alternative to the traditional Belgian restaurants. Traditional Belgian cuisine has a clear French influence on a Flemish base. It often employs rich butter and cream based sauces, not very suitable for people on a low cholesterol diet. The mussels with fries come in uncountable versions and are the most popular Belgian dish with tourists (only available in season).Other traditional dishes are the waterzooi (a rich soup of cream, celery and chicken or fish), the Flemish carbonades (stewed meat in a rich sauce), eels in green sauce, vol-au-vent (meat in a bechamel-like sauce with mile-feuille tartalettes)...Waffles are the best known Belgian creation as desert.

STRAFFE HENDRIE BREWPUB: Split Pea soup and Good Belgian Beer

by mtncorg

Located along the canals of Brugge you can find many fine places to eat. What is better than to enjoy on a wet, cool day than a good local beer, a hot bowl of split pea soup with some good warm bread? Straffe Hendrie is a bit away from the main events in Brugge, which makes it that much more fun. The beer. I have heard some say that the brewery is a bit too touristy - go in the winter and you won't find it such :-) There is other beers from Brugge besides here, but we didn't complain about what we drank:-]
