1. Belle Vue extra kriek (cherry) beer, right from the tap at the Belle Vue brewery museum in Brussels, near the Canal at 5 minutes walk from the metro station "Graaf van Vlaanderen/Compte de Flandre". This is where the old buildings of the Brewery Belle Vue are situated. The beer brewing itself is done in the modern brewery but the lambic still ripes in barrels in this museum. This beer is made of different lambics and with fresh cherries and riped in wooden barrels before it gets bottled. It is basically prepared with hop and malt and natural yeast with spontaneously fermentation. 2. Lambic beers and their blends spontaneously ferment and age for two or three years in wooden casks. This Belle-Vue Framboise is fabricated with another fruit lambic and is characterised by the sweet taste of raspberries. Unlikely with the cherry beer, there are no fromboises added but the juice of framboise. It is rather sweet. Bergensesteenweg 144 B-1600 SINT-PIETERS-LEEUW Tel. : +32 02/371.43.00 Fax : +32 02/371.43.22 website of Interbrew
I thought the kriek we tried at the open doors on one of our Brussels VT meeting, was rather sweet, sweeter then I can remember having the same kriek from the bottle. Ofcourse it was from the draft and fresh made! Visiting the brewery was easy to do, but since Bellevue is part of Interbrew things really went to worse. It is almost impossible as an individual to visit this museum. I visited this museum already three times. You might see more info of my visit and the meeting on my off the beaten path tips of Brussels or you can have a look at the fotki pictures! hit next each time. Leave a Comment

Meuse Valley as seen from Namur Fortress by Paul2001 I found that I was somewhat indifferent to Namur. This is probably because it pales in comparison to Brussels and Brugge. This city lacks any big ticket things to see. The fortress on the hill above the city is interesting from a military science point of view but if you are a serious world traveler its nothing that you have not seen before. The views from it of the Meuse Valley are quite nice however. Incidently my travel guide consider the city's cathedral to be the ugliest example of Baroque architecture in Belgium.
Go to Dinant instead. It is smaller and prettier.(I hope to have a page on it soon) Leave a Comment

1 more beer ?... by IngaA Beer :))))))))) Just famous great beer
The main tourist trap in Belgium. I remember even a forum discussion about the best beer. So long, so many postings. Belgium won this beer competition by the absolute majority of VTers who voted for Belgian beer (me among them). This trap is fo beer-lovers. Be careful when drinking Belgian beer. I know, U'll be delighted and U'll want MORE and MORE :))))) After that U risk to "on 4 legs" from the bar:)))))
You drank ALL the beer in the bar???? Alternative: GO to the another bar :))))) Leave a Comment

Leffe beer by irisbe I am not such a big fan of Leffe Blonde because it is too sweet for my taste. It is a very commercial taste so I am sure there will be lots of other people left who will like it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Leffe is brewed under the label of the Abbaye de Leffe but is actually an InBev beer. This means you will have too look for the information at the InBev website.
Drink slow, enjoy the taste.... and never leave a glass empty nor full! That is what my late uncle said when he died with a smile on his face and his glass in his hands! Leave a Comment

Belgium beer is so good you might want to drink more then you can take! Unless it is Christmass! 1. I tasted this beer on the 2001 edition of the 24 hours of beer in Antwerp. It was a great beer and I tried it again last Christmas time 2004 in Brussels in the pub Delirium Tremens where they have over 2004 different beers. It is a strong dark ale of 8,5 % but it goes in very well. Not too sweet as often dark beers can be. 2. Bieke is one of the other beers of Boelens. I liked this one too. Just try it out one day if you can lay your hand on it! Contact information: Kerkstraat 7 Belsele, 9111 Belgium phone: +32 (0)37 72 32 00 Official website of Boelens Brewery I heard it is very difficult to get this beer as it is often sold out at the brewery itself.

Famous Antwerp Bolleke and a local Waagstuk by irisbe Belgium beer is so good you might want to drink more then you can take! Het Waagstuk is a rather sweet comercial tasing tripel like beer. It is named after the pub Het Waagstuk. This name refers to an building that used to stand in the middle of the square and that was a public bascul. However during Napoleon's occupation it burned down.
