Don't Climb the Tower

by Bonkers11

The Tower costs a fortune to climb and really isnt worth it, with rooms off at two levels there is nothing in the rooms. I woul d have been happy if there had been seom artefacts and historical information. Really was disappointed. The view is somewhat ok. Make sure that you have nothing else to do and you are an addict of climbing things just cos thy are there to be climbed. Walk round the city to the Winmills much quieter, you are not jostled by others climbing the small narrow tiny spiral staircase.

Belgian chocolates

by amitgupta76

The biggest trap. Each shop tells you that there's is the best and these are expensive, I mean the decent ones ar at least 25-28 Euro per kg. So i feel it is better to stick to branded ones like Cote'dor, which are amongst the best. You have choice of white, dark, very dark, milk, nuts etc. They even have a assorted pack. Never buy from a tourist market, they are way too expensive. avoid homemade ones, maybe Leonidas pralines are very good, but expensive i have mentioned the brands to stick to dont promise relatives about bringing home chocolates. in fact promise them nothing, things are very expensive here. Just take lots of photographs. they are FREE

You should not bother visiting...

by Paul2001

You should not bother visiting the battlefield at Waterloo unless you are a serious military history buff. There really is not that much of the actual battlefield that has been well preserved. The various farms that are still standing will mean nothing to you unless you are aware of the blow by blow action of the battle. For those familiar with the battle, there are some interesting sites that you can visit. These include the Visitor Centre has an audio visual presentation about the battle. You can also climb up the Lion Mound where you can get a picture of the whole battlefield.Unfortunately many of buildings that played a role in the Battle of Waterloo are privately owned. La Haie-Sainte cannot be visited at all. The Hougoumont, a fortified farmhouse, is also privately owned but you can wander the grounds. Just do not enter the house and help yourself to tea.

The visiting area is more like a museum with shop and taverne/restaurant.With deep regret I must announce the decease of the art of brewing HoegaerdenThank you Brazilian money makers for killing our culture inheritage!I hope you choke in it!

Hoegaarden beer!!!
Rue des Bouchers, Brussels

by chanzey

Just don't even think of it. Even if everyone else recommends it, don't! It's nasty: waiters and maitre-d's of the restaurants here almost try to drag you into their place to have some food. It's like a Tunisian market! Plus: often the food isn't up to much. If you do want to go, look out for a restaurant that doesn't use staff to convince you to come in. For example: Aux Armes de Bruxelles is highly recommended, although a bit pricier. I always enjoy eating there. The personnel is dressed to impress, the food is excellent.http://www.armesdebruxelles.be/(Check out the guest book)

The Overrated Atomium.

by Paul2001

The Atomium is a complete waste of time and money. This is especially so since it well out from the city centre of Brussels. There are plenty of other things more interesting to see in this wonderful city than this dated and faded spectacle. It is my understanding that the Atomium has recently undergone some desperately need restoration. This means that a visit might still be interesting for some.

LA BINCHOISE

by irisbe

I tasted the Binchoise Christmas beer for the very first time in the pub the Delirium Tremens in Brussels. At that moment they had 3 special christmas beers on tap and this was one of them.I thought it to be a good beer, although it was not my most favored of the threesome.I could recomend you to try it out. I haven't tried it from the bottle, only from tap.Visit the website of the brewery.
