DE KONICK Brewery beer

by irisbe

1. On occasion of the celebration of one of Antwerp's most famous painters, Sir Anthony van Dyck, the De Koninck brewery created a Anton beer.2. Cuvee, Belgian strong dark ale and more my likes thenh the regular De Koninck beer3. Real Antwerp Bolleke: a pale ale, not my favorite but widely liked by many people.Brouwerij De Koninck NVMechelsesteenweg 291Antwerpen, 2018Belgiumphone: +32 (0)32 18 40 48Or have at view at their Website.

Beware of the beer!!!Become calm from PALM

by irisbe

Belgium beer is so good you might want to drink more then you can take!Palm will turn you calm!1. Palm : special amber coloured beer with a fruity aroma balancee between sweet and bitterWell they don't turn me calm, as it was one of my favorite beers, I started to boycot them recently because they bought the Gouden Boom and you can tell eversince that brewery is suffering (the brew shop doesn't have all the stuff anymore, some of the beers are bottled at Palm... and there is this tendence to commercialise tastes) I hope the new managament will realize this is not the right way to please beer lovers!2. Brugs Tarwe beer brewed for Alken. Some prefere Brugs blonds! The term "white" has traditionally been applied to wheat beers as they are very pale in colour and may, have an intentional natural cloudiness. Belgian White beers are very traditional brews. At one stage not popular anymore and...

GOUDEN BOOM... exit :(

by irisbe

1. Brugse Triple from late brewery De Gouden Boom.So sad the consortiums of Palm et compagnie have dismantled this excellent (and last!) brewery in Bruges.Really a shame!I had the priviledge to have seen it still operational during its last but one year.My uncle was so kind to give me and my American friends a private tour and introduced us to the people in the laboratory. Now the only thing left is a brewery museum. The beer is brewed elsewhere. Brugge Tripel was awarded the Gold Medal at the prestigious contest Monde Sélection Brussels during 3 consecutive years: 1996; 1997 and 1998.Lets hope that the take-overs will respect the beer as it is when brewed in the Gouden boom.Too many breweries with only eye for money and less for artisanal brewing are making tastes of beers more commercial, often more sweet.I hope Brugse Tripel with its full malt taste will escape this cruel destiny!2....

Christmas and a Bieke at BOELENS brewery!

by irisbe

Belgium beer is so good you might want to drink more then you can take!Unless it is Christmass!1. I tasted this beer on the 2001 edition of the 24 hours of beer in Antwerp. It was a great beer and I tried it again last Christmas time 2004 in Brussels in the pub Delirium Tremens where they have over 2004 different beers. It is a strong dark ale of 8,5 % but it goes in very well. Not too sweet as often dark beers can be.2. Bieke is one of the other beers of Boelens. I liked this one too. Just try it out one day if you can lay your hand on it!Contact information:Kerkstraat 7Belsele, 9111Belgiumphone: +32 (0)37 72 32 00Official website of Boelens BreweryI heard it is very difficult to get this beer as it is often sold out at the brewery itself. Drink slow, enjoy the taste....and never leave a glass empty nor full! That is what my late uncle said when he died with a smile on his face and his...

Have a good look at the BELLE VUE :)

by irisbe

1. Belle Vue extra kriek (cherry) beer, right from the tap at the Belle Vue brewery museum in Brussels, near the Canal at 5 minutes walk from the metro station "Graaf van Vlaanderen/Compte de Flandre".This is where the old buildings of the Brewery Belle Vue are situated. The beer brewing itself is done in the modern brewery but the lambic still ripes in barrels in this museum. This beer is made of different lambics and with fresh cherries and riped in wooden barrels before it gets bottled. It is basically prepared with hop and malt and natural yeast with spontaneously fermentation.2. Lambic beers and their blends spontaneously ferment and age for two or three years in wooden casks. This Belle-Vue Framboise is fabricated with another fruit lambic and is characterised by the sweet taste of raspberries. Unlikely with the cherry beer, there are no fromboises added but the juice of framboise.It...

I drank this Delirium Tremens already some years ago.It is tasteful but not really my most favorite beer. However the Noel edition was a nice suprise.2. A Delirium tremens before ChristmassThis is one of the beers I tried out 2nd January 2005 :)it is a seasonable beer as it is the Christmass edition of the Delirium Tremens "The Delirium tremens Noel"It was very tasty, not too sweet.Well a good beer you ought to find out by tasting !~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Contact information:Brouwerij...

Brewery VAN HONSEBROUCK

by irisbe

Tutti frutti and also very sweet.I would say it is nice for the taste if you are a sweet kriek lover but because it will remain sticky in your mouth I would not suggest this as a good drink to ease your thirst on a hot day.But just as a substitute for a sweet dessert :)why not?~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Brouwerij Van Honsebrouck N.V.
