trains and hotel by airport Brussels

by gwened

well wait for those who does train a lot, I try to minimize here in Europe. However, train travel is extensive there. discount tickets are purchase min 30 days in advance and are nonrefundable non exchangable; on the fast trains like TGV; on regular trains you dont need reservations, just go to the train station and buy them. A person or machine you have the choice.crossing borders is very easy here in the EU zone. there is a German train site that most seems to find more legiblehttp://www.bahn.de/i/view/USA/en/index.shtmlhotels by airport, I use the accor French group because of points, so there good hotels good prices Etaphttp://www.accorhotels.com/gb/hotel-5247-etap-hotel-brussels-airport/index.shtmla bit better the Ibishttp://www.accorhotels.com/gb/hotel-1090-ibis-brussels-airport/index.shtmlhope it helps

Sncb

by dr.firas

Sncb is the name of the Railway affairs in Belgium, the trips between the cities is much cheaper than those in france for 2 reasons:-the trains are slower and less modern!-the distance between the cities are shorter!so I was happy to move from Brussles to Antwerp and payed only 4 Euros!

Cheap fares (normally) to Belgium

by sourbugger

Ryanair provides a vast range of routes into Brussels. Flights come from all over europe and Morocco and can often be bought for a song. It used to have good competition from Virgin express, but that airline merged to form Brussels airlines. It is now more of a traditional airline and is fact the 'flag carrier' following the demise of Sabena (no mourning there). I suspect Ryanair's antics contributed somewhat to that demise - as evidenced by this advertisment from some years back.Ryanair flies into Charleroi airport, south of Brussels rather than the main Brussels airport. It takes a bit longer, but no where is that far from anywhere else in this very well connected country.

The Kusttram

by sourbugger

The Kusttram is the longest tram route in the whole world ! and it very nearly crosses an entire country. It runs alongside the northern coastline from De panne (almost in France) to Knokke (almost in Holland) for some 42 miles. The route is filled with interesting towns - such as Ostend, great beaches - such as Blankenburg and more industrial port areas. If you add in a good number of interesting pieces of public art (this area claims to be the birthplace of surrealism) and bus links to stunningly beautiful flanders villages and you have the receipe for a good few days exporing. And doing it in an ecologically sound way. With no shortage of accommodation and all points of the coast never being more than about 20 miles from Brugges - this is a great little corner of Europe to spend time in.

belgium bij train of bus

by windpaard

if you think to make at least 10 trips with the train in belgium, then it will be goed to buy the 'rail pass' at the station,ik cost about 79 euro, than a trip costs about 7,90 euro.so you can ask first how much costs a trip and if it costs more than you use the rail pass.from charleroi you can buy the ticket from ryanair to brussels it costs aroud 12 euro(?),otherwise you have take a bus to the station and than the train. for the bus you can also buy a month/year abonnement for a regio(flandres),with this abonnement you can go everywhere where the flandres bus " de lijn" goes ,even also to the border towns of nederlands,maastricht,eindhoven,tilburg...

Near unlimited ride <400 km for max. 27.80 Euro

by GyuriFT

Belgian train prices are not particularly expensive, but buying a lot of small domestic "point-to-point" tickets can add up the price.Besides, what "point-to-point" train ticket really is? "Point-to-Point" concept needs to be understood correctly. Many times people land up buying "relation" tickets and think, they are "Point-to-Point", not utilizing the features and paying more, than necessary. "REAL" point-to-point tickets are typically: - deeply discounted tickets between city pairs valid only on a particular day and train (think: Munich-Villach for 39 Euro) - all tickets normally sold in some countries because the managers of their railways are not passenger-friendly (Spain, Italy, France, Sweden, Norway) - to a large degree, all DOMESTIC tickets in every country (the validity is usually 1-2 days, but stopovers of limited time are allowed) "Relation" tickets are most international...

Easy to Drive

by acommon1

Even though I tended to get lost, it was night time. Honestly, it isn't that hard for me to get mixed up as to which turn to make. For you travelers that like to take control of your Destiny, consider renting a car. This country is easy to drive around. Brussels is simple to get around. Head out into the countryside. I chose to jolt down to Waterloo. Everything is close. The cafes and petite restaurants have a superb selection. Grab a map. You can figure it out even without a GPS system. This country fits into one of my "do-over" places. Rob J>acommon1 journey
