There is a buscompany that has busses leaving from Brussels to the south. They go to Paris, Lyon, Avignon, Nimes, Montpellier, Perpignan, Barcelona, Lloret de Mar, Valencia, Alicante and many more coastal places in Spain. They also make trips to Morocco. Busses leave from the Netherlands (Katwoude, Amsterdam, Den Haag, Rotterdam, Breda)They are located in Brussel on the Fonsnylaan 2 A. And are open from 10am to 6pm (Mon-Fri) and 10am to 2pm on Saturday, on Sunday they are closed. Some busses go on a weekly schedule. Call or email them for more specific information.

A warning to car drivers: in all of Belgium signs indicating the directions at roads are often positioned in such a way that you will only see them when you're already on the right track. When you're on the wrong track you may only notice them when it's too late to correct your direction. Or you won't see them at all, in which case you easily get lost. Buy a good roadmap and study it carefully. It may save you time and fuel and, in case of emergency, help you to get back at the right road.

Holland always seems to get the nod when it comes to a place to cycle in, but Belgium is as good or better. For those so inclined, there are some serious hills in the Ardennes to fight. For those not, then Flanders is for you. Most times a one-speed bike is fine to cruise the miles away. Destinations are up to your imagination and map. Only warning is to remember the prevailing wind direction.

You will see the streets of Brugge city are usually narrow, and it's better to rent a bike when traveling around, if you stay for a period of time, you can buy one second hand bike and at the end the shop owner would buy it back when you leave with about half the price. Usually a second hand bike costs 100 euro.

We drove mostly by car around Belgium but we used (I mean me and a friend) also train, bus, metro, tram. The price of the local transport in Flanders is 0.75 Euro per zone. Better buy a card and use it for longer time. The petrol is around 1.00 ------- 1.50 Euro. these are the prices of Euro 95 and Super Plus 98, the most used petrol there as I know.The Train ticket is very reasable, you can use it one year and it costs about 40 Euro for ten travellings.

Belgium has two international airports, the main one being Zaventem, 14km north-east of Brussels. The other one, Deurne, is close to Antwerp and has less frequent flights to Amsterdam, London, Liverpool and Dublin only. Depending on when you leave, flights to London can be cheaper from Deurne. If you're in Europe already, a bus or train is the best option. Eurolines and Hoverspeed Citysprint operate international bus services to and from Belgium. Belgium Railways has frequent international services. Brussels has three main station and is the central hub, with lines in all directions. Two companies operate car/passenger ferries to and from Britain: North Sea Ferries (overnight from Zeebrugge to Hull) and Oostende Lines/Sally Ferries (six boats daily between Ostend and Ramsgate).

Getting around Belgium is cheap and easy, which makes up for the rather expensive, and often heavily booked, accommodation. While there are plenty of buses and hiring a car is an easy enough option, the country's transport system is dominated by its efficient rail network. The fastest services are the InterCity trains, backed up by InterRegional and local trains. In the more remote areas, buses take up the slack. There's a good public transport system (including trams and a small metro system in Brussels and Antwerp). Taxis, which lurk outside most train stations, are metered and expensive. Cycling is popular in the flat north and many roads have separate lanes for bikes. Railway stations rent bikes. It's also possible to hire a boat to cruise along the many rivers and canals.
