Čevabdžinica "Hari": Travnički čevap- No. 1 in Bosnia
Have you ever tried Bosnian čevapi? It is our "fast-food": a portion of minimum ten pieces of seasoned minced meat inch size in a round soft bread called somun, both grilled. In addition comes chopped onion beside meat, but you don't have to eat it if you don't like. Usually we drink a glass of yogurt in the end, or while you eat, it's you choice.
I was so hungry that I had forgotten to take a photo of it (after five minutes it was too late- no more čevapi in my plate! ) yummyyyyyy!
Whenever I remember Travnik, my stomach cryies: čevapi! Only after that you can go sightseeing in a leisure stroll.
Favorite Dish: what else but : velika porcija čevapa- big portion of čevapi
Restoran Lutvina Kahva: Unique in the world
Favorite Dish: Ask for Lutvina kahva(not usual coffee) -it's a Bosnian coffee served on a special tray, in cezve and fincan with (rahat) lokum, sugar, coffee cream, a cigarette and matches with a reklama of the restaurant-a printed photo of the restaurant on matches. A glass of water is added too. Then sit relaxed by the murmur of Plava voda( river Blue Water) and enjoy your coffee.
First take a sip of water to wash your mounth and clean it from other tastes before you start drinking your coffee. Leave some water in your glass to drink it after you have drunk the caffee. Then start sipping your coffee. If you want to sweet it, add a sugar cube or eat a Turkish delight. Add a coffee cream if you don't like it black. For smokers there is a cigarette to complete this ritual. Smoking in public places in Bosnia is not yet forbidden, in other words, they have full freedom to smoke in every corner whenever they want( except in buses).
Konoba and Plava Voda, Travnik, BAH
When you are in "Travnik", you will recognize that its not a huge place and next to water there are two very recommendable restaurants, "Konoba Restaurant" and the "Plava Voda Restaurant".
Both have great food, especially the cevapcici, which is a famous dish for the Balkan's, a grilled meat as meatballs served in pita and pickels and onions as like kebab, very delicious ... :)
You can seat outside at the garden area covered with big sunumbrellas or inside. Once I was there it was such cold and kindda snowy and so there was the fireplace on to make guests warm inside.
Prices are reasonable and the environment is so nice with the calming voice of the river, you feel to stay more and more even as your supper finishes, very well advised to give a try ... :)
Favorite Dish: Meats, salads with herbs and dessert accompanied with coffee, served as like Turkish Coffee with a copper coffee pot in a traditional style ...

Plava Voda: Best place to enjoy a drink
The Plava Voda restaurant is right next to the water. Many outside tables, efficient service, a fresh breeze and some cold water spray (depending on how close you are sitting to the water source). If I had someone there with me, I probably could have stayed the whole afternoon, chatting and sipping down coffee.
Favorite Dish: I had mismanaged my money that day and only had 3KM on me. I told my waiter this and asked what I could get. He brought out a Turkish coffee, baklava, glass of cold water and one cigarette. I don't normally smoke but that was special circumstances, so I lit up and relaxed.
Ivo Andric House restaurant: Lunch before or after visiting the museum
If you'er visiting the museum house of Ivo Andric (author of Bridge on the Drina and other classics), then pop in here for a good meal. Unfortunately, the museum was closed when I was there (Saturday in early spring) but the homecooked meal and old-style interior of the restaurant was worth the visit.
Favorite Dish: I had a Sarajevosko piva (beer), Travnik cheese (close to Feta cheese), 3 kabobs, fries and good dark bread. Total for the lunch was 15KM. Mixing the Travnik cheese with your fries is a good idea.
If you don't really feel like going to a restaurant there are always stands around where you can buy something to eat. And it's realllly cheap!
