Restaurant is in a very small hotel of the same name right on the Vrbas River across from the Fortress. Very family oriented with lots of locals. Good variety of food and portions that are absolutely HUGE. Neither my wife nor I could finish ours, delicious though it was. Apparently, they are used to this as the waiter offered a take-away box. They will let you order half a portion...for 70% of the full cost. If you cannot "take away" this is worth it. Dessert was completely out of the question! We ate inside and it was quite nice but they have a pleasant outdoor area overlooking the river and the fortress across the water.

Address: On the Vrbas River directly across from the fort
The old Austrian little railway station just on a side of the Republic of Srpska Administrative Centre on the main Banjaluka boulevard has found its place in the world of must-go restaurants in BiH.
Excellent food and atmosphere.

The price indicated included drinks, making it incredibly good value. Even so, it is possible to eat more cheaply in Banja Luka.
I feel uneasy recommending this place because on the occasions that we ate there (20:00-ish) we were the only customers! Nevertheless it seemed a fine restaurant. The quality of the food and the service were absolutely first class when we were there.
It must surely do a thriving trade at other times to warrant the number of staff who were in attendance.
Favorite Dish: The menu is mainly local traditional, which is to say meat-orientated (especially lamb) but also includes river fish etc, all served with salads rather than cooked vegetables. Good wine and beer, as throughout Bosnia, costs much less than EU equivalents.

This place is very convenient to the market and city-centre shopping area. There is a good choice of meat dishes to choose from (some fish too) and various salads, with the emphasis on traditional food. The ambience is nothing special but clean and modern. The prices are if anything on the low side of reasonable. I would have ticked the lowest price category if VT's currency was anything other than the dollar (which at the time of writing this buys very little of anything anywhere).

This restaurant is definitely not to be missed. You can certainly eat a little cheaper, but the steaks are great and the trout is amazing. The atmosphere is unique (inside an old castle or fort) and parts of it are outside overlooking the river....wonderful experience.

Actually, it is more than one restaurant. There are 3 grills, two restaurants offering domestic and international dishes and 1 pizzeria / Italian food restaurant online. You can order using the english language interface for seconds.
Favorite Dish: Check out grill from A&D Grill and Diavolo Pizza from Donatello Pizzeria.

Decorated in mexican style, this place offers a variety of mexican, italian and local food... I have to admit, I never saw such huge portions and such good food for such an acceptable price. Definately a choice to go with!
Favorite Dish: Try mexican tortilla and beef and chicken fajitas. Delicious!

Grilled lambs meat is a typical dishes of the Bosnia and Herzegovina and most of the restaurants offers it as a speciality of the haus. It takes more then 3 or four hours to grilled the meat on a slow fire. From time to time, the beer is adding over in order to make it more tasty.
