La Terazza: Nice rest on the road

by Odiseya Updated Jul 4, 2014
    Coffee in La Terazza
    1 more image

La Terazza is not popular cafe and restaurant but is it very familiar within locals and visitors of Laktasi. It is located in building that "shares" with College of Applied and Legal Sciences "Prometej" and it is usually place where students eat or you can relax here while you wait you bus to Laktasi, Gradiska or Srbac or some suburban lines. See this place on map La Terazza

For me this is a classic bar with nice terrace but it is also and restaurant. It have very wide offers: food and drinks. It is popular for its breakfast, sandwich and pizza.

It is also and place you can watch sport on big screen or enjoy in night out with live music on Friday and that makes this place more eclectic. Here is organized and special events like celebration (both) New Years.

Working hours from 07:00 till 23:00 every day.

Favorite Dish: I usually only drink coffee here. I find information that here you could pay your coffee and by call on 1458. I never heard about this before. More information about cafe/restaurant La Terazza and its offer you can find on facebook page La Terazza.

    Restaurant Marcello
    1 more image

Restaurant and pizza place call "Marcello" is located on in a separate space behind a row of stalls along the street along the pedestrian zone called "small park". It has a simply constructed enclosure and not particularly draws attention. At least not me, till I dint read and heard recommendation.
It has a tradition of good food since 2005. New renovation and expansion restaurant Marcello get a special wine place with special booth. Good service and not expensive, parking just around a corner.

Favorite Dish: Marcello is now recognized by the broad wealth of culinary delights. There is nice breakfast meny with house made bakery. Rumors is that this is one of best pizzas in city.

    Belvedere: Sweet dreams

by Odiseya Updated Dec 22, 2013
    Belvedere
    4 more images

Belvedere is nice place for rest. It is in narrow area of downtown in Banja Luka but is not so easy to find. Placed on corner of residential complex and across of small park, there is no big public space or promotional sign. During summer there is small outdoor terrace and indoor narrow space next to windows wall. Besides ordering tasty fast food, sandwiches or local delicacies this it is not place you could and wont to spend too much time here.

I find it that offers of Belvedere is good, wide and diverse. You could order here: pizza, salad, sendwiches, pies, ice cream, cakes and pastries.

Wide selection of pizza (sizes and types), I find out there is many different types of pizzas. The prices diverse according to filling: from Margarita (5 KM or BAM) till Cappricoza family size (15 KM or BAM). Popular is mini size of pizza (about 4 KM or BAM), big size of any type of pizza and family size of any type of pizza is 18 KM or BAM.
    Special offers is:
    1. Belvedere special (sauce, four types of cheese, ham, egg, dry throat-special part of meat, very tasty and kulen-spicy sausage) - 10 KM or BAM;
    2. Pizza uno per duo (pizza per two persons, two taste in one pizza) - 13 KM or BAM and
    3. three different pizza sandwiches: ham (3,5 till 5 KM or BAM).

For light meal or supplement food there is also seasoned salad and dressing: English, Russian, tartar sauce, etc. Not sure about prices, I dint order any of it.

Students usually get a sandwiches (folded mostly and in domestic bun). It is unusually to find out that there is a wide selection of sandwiches in domestic bun with different names: Belwedere, Fantazia, Vienna (Bečki), Mexico, etc.
Two types of sandwiches in triangle shape: Vienna - bečki sendvič (chicken stake) 3 KM or BAM and Zlatibor - zlatiborac (dry throat-special part of meat and cheese from Užice, Serbia) 2,80 KM or BAM.
Don't worry, hamburger is included in offers (2,50 KM).

This is a place where you could taste and famous domestic folded pies such as with meat (burek) and it offer in two types: folded and furl, with chees (sirnica), with potato (krompirusha) and less known with mushrooms (pita sa gljivama).

Fasting food during religious holidays and fast: pizza, sandwiches and domestic pies.

Many different types of cakes and pastries. Home order and delivery is offered. I find very interesting offers of savory and sweet pancakes

Favorite Dish: I like their ice cream with chocolate top, it is special product and I think it is the best ice cream in Banja Luka but it is available only during summer. It serve in glass cup and it consist of basic cream that serve cold and one or maximum two different topping. You could choose one or two topping: chocolate, hazelnuts, berries, strawberry, cherry, raspberry, blueberry and stracciatella. It cost 2,5 KM or BAM (2013). Glass water with it is free of charge.

Pizzeria Aragosta: Classic style and taste

by Odiseya Written Dec 20, 2013
    Pizzeria Aragosta

Historic heritage and modern gastronomic experience in once. In that way I would describe nice little building on main street in Banja Luka. It is in fact a reconstructed and reuse a old AustrianHungarian imperialistic small train station.

Officially pizzeria is also and classic restaurant and modern cafe bar. Placed on main street, popular touristic area call Imperial road and next to main administrative center of Republika Srpska should be a advance and recommendation for visiting.

Favorite Dish: Usually I take a short rest here and drink a coffee or tee, but pizza is good option.

  • vila Vrbas Restaurant: Very Delicious but Humongous Portions!

by BlancoCactusJack Written Jul 26, 2010

Restaurant is in a very small hotel of the same name right on the Vrbas River across from the Fortress. Very family oriented with lots of locals. Good variety of food and portions that are absolutely HUGE. Neither my wife nor I could finish ours, delicious though it was. Apparently, they are used to this as the waiter offered a take-away box. They will let you order half a portion...for 70% of the full cost. If you cannot "take away" this is worth it. Dessert was completely out of the question! We ate inside and it was quite nice but they have a pleasant outdoor area overlooking the river and the fortress across the water.

Restoran Kazamat: First-class food and drink in Banja Luka

    by PK2 Updated Nov 28, 2007

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

No neon-lit foyer entrance for Restoran Kazamat.

The price indicated included drinks, making it incredibly good value. Even so, it is possible to eat more cheaply in Banja Luka.

I feel uneasy recommending this place because on the occasions that we ate there (20:00-ish) we were the only customers! Nevertheless it seemed a fine restaurant. The quality of the food and the service were absolutely first class when we were there.

It must surely do a thriving trade at other times to warrant the number of staff who were in attendance.

Favorite Dish: The menu is mainly local traditional, which is to say meat-orientated (especially lamb) but also includes river fish etc, all served with salads rather than cooked vegetables. Good wine and beer, as throughout Bosnia, costs much less than EU equivalents.

Hotel Vidović self-service restaurant: Get a quick meal fo a very reasonable price

    by PK2 Written Nov 28, 2007

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    1 more image

This place is very convenient to the market and city-centre shopping area. There is a good choice of meat dishes to choose from (some fish too) and various salads, with the emphasis on traditional food. The ambience is nothing special but clean and modern. The prices are if anything on the low side of reasonable. I would have ticked the lowest price category if VT's currency was anything other than the dollar (which at the time of writing this buys very little of anything anywhere).

Castle Restaurant: Not to be missed

by theonefisher Written May 28, 2007

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This restaurant is definitely not to be missed. You can certainly eat a little cheaper, but the steaks are great and the trout is amazing. The atmosphere is unique (inside an old castle or fort) and parts of it are outside overlooking the river....wonderful experience.

    Janjetina s raznja

Grilled lambs meat is a typical dishes of the Bosnia and Herzegovina and most of the restaurants offers it as a speciality of the haus. It takes more then 3 or four hours to grilled the meat on a slow fire. From time to time, the beer is adding over in order to make it more tasty.
