    Squere of Krayina

by Odiseya Updated Jan 10, 2013

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Here you can find almost all famous landscapes of Banja Luka. Usually people come here from bus stop in front main post office, then cross the street and here you are - square of Krayina in the heart of Banja Luka.
Look around you! What you see? I do for you!
I stay near protected clock (reminder on earthquake 1969) and look in front you - here is Boska, famous former department store and today modern shopping mall. At the his corner, on ours left side, is usually a some tend for promoting actual cultural event and sell tickets. Then we see a Jewish street witch leads to Dom radnicke solidarnosti (see my others reviews). it is close for public transportation and commercialize with many shops, cafe bars and streets sellers. You will see and
a place to relax in the open - it's a cafe. Enjoy! Then, a side of old building with modern store and you are at the Gospodska street. Then here is a highest building - Malbašić company building.
Again look across street till you see a Petar Kočić monument and main park (with his name). In the middle is a long water basin and musical pavilion, then benches, paths, flowers and other usually decoration. Then you go again cross the street (watch the buses!) - long line of bus and protected bus stops where is usually very crowded.
Then is famous hotel Palas and rest under cover, under construction several years.
In front is stairs under the square - with market, cinema Palas and cafes.
And is path to main city market (Gradska tržnica) and fountain and you are back to the Boska.
    How you liked?!

Sports hall "Obilicevo" - cultural part

by Odiseya Updated Jan 10, 2013

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Sport hall Obilicevo is "home" and for many cultural institution and organization.
The complex settled a branch of the National University Library of the Republika Srpska "Petar Kocic" with a rich fund of books and literature.

There is also and American corner. American Corner is some sort of cultural club. There is small library created to make information available through the collaboration between the United States and contributed to the spread between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States. They organized many interesting programs and events, including: presentations, seminars and lectures of famous Americans, exhibitions, corner for English, hours of English language (conversation, discussion, debate), projections of current movies and documentary film. It is little known to the general public that there is a large stock of books in Czech. I do not know how it got there. At the time when I was a student I learn Czech language at Faculty of Philosophy and attended classes of Czech language at the association of Czech minority call "Češka besjeda" (mean: Czech speech) there were the biggest collection of books in the City.

As I write about this as cultural part of hall - there is also and City theater "Jazavac" (I write about it in separate tip).
