Things to Do

Picnic in the park

Picnic in the park, Foca

augustiner Says:  With no particular planning or advance restaurant booking and being a group of 12 and waiting for more to arrive we opted for a picnic in the local park, before the kids get run over in the parking lot. One of the nicest and cleanest parks I have ever seen in this country...

Adopt a dog

Adopt a dog, Foca

augustiner Says:  Like in most countries south of Austria you will find stray dogs all over the place. They are tolerated and often even fed (at least when they are still cute). We almost ran over this dog and some other puppies in Foca going to the Tara river camp. On our way back we saw her...

Go shopping

Go shopping, Foca

Mina17 Says:  Foča is a small place but they do have some nice stores with great fashion...and they're not hard to find either.

Hotels

Pkencijan camp: Tara river camping

Pkencijan camp: Tara river camping, Foca

augustiner Says:  The word cozy describes this place best. Everything from the little wooden huts to the fire places was made with love for detail and blends in beautifully with the breathtaking nature. There is also room to set up some tents. Milan Sherpas (the pan) and the crew are...

Pkencijan: Tara Honeymoon suite

Pkencijan: Tara Honeymoon suite, Foca

augustiner Says:  If you like nature, have a romantic streak and can do without cable TV and jacuzzi for a couple of days, than this is the right thing for you. These cozy little huts are about 4 meters from Tara river. Actually in spring they are in Tara river if not removed on time. No need...

Foča

Walking is the best way to experience this town. Mainly because it's not that big of a place. The people are friendly so if by any chance you do get lost they'll surely help you out. Plus you get a great view of the river.

Tara river forms the natural border for about 30 km between Montenegro and Bosnia. When you go rafting you are bound to set foot on both countries, because good roads are scarce. The border guards don't seem to worry about pedestrians in wetsuits. Some drunk Americans jumped off this bridge when we were there. Something I do not recommend, water levels can play tricks on you.

Sports & Outdoors

River kayaking

River kayaking, Foca

augustiner Says:  The river Tara is ideal for Kayaking. This is the camp owner's boat, he lets everybody go for a paddle free of charge. Make sure to to keep smaller kids on a rope and don't let them out there without a vest like my boy is doing here. They have everything in all sizes.

Water everywhere

Water everywhere, Foca

augustiner Says:  Do you have problems getting going again after sleeping off the lunch beers with an afternoon nap? Try a 10 degree Celsius water fall at Tara river. This is part of the rafting cruise with tour operator Pkencijan. Don't do this if you have heart problems.

Bosnia Grand Canyon

Bosnia Grand Canyon, Foca

augustiner Says:  Cruising down Tara river on a raft is a mystical experience. The nature is overwhelming. The canyon is second in size only to the Grand Canyon in Colorado and the water is potable in the whole length of the river. Adrenaline junkies should come in spring, when water levels...

Just a suggestion

Just a suggestion, Foca

Mina17 Says:  Just a suggestion if you are planning on doing a lot of walking...don't wear high heels (if you're not used to them)...because it is gonna be hard to walk. Especially on the cobble stoned streets.

Just like any other town

Just like any other town, Foca

Mina17 Says:  Foča is pretty much just like any other little town. And yes by that I am refearring to hills. But it's something you get used to after a while :)
