The official language of Kosovo is Albanian and the city's former name of Peć was changed into Pejë when the new country claimed its independence.
This city is located near the borders with Montenegro and Albania with pleasant scenic mountains surroundings. Power shortage becomes evident at dusk, when a myriad generators start their thump concert. UNFOR peacekeeping forces (mostly Italian Army) abounded at the time of my visit in Sep 2008, their base is just outside of town on the road to Deçan.
Plenty of nightlife in Mbretresha Teute street along the river, west of the decent Hotel Dukagjini, with restaurants and grill bars ranging from shacks to elegant ones. Try Birra Peja, nothing surprising but definitely local.
