What an absolute jewel of a bijou theatre - built in 1921. It appears undamaged, or if it was it has been repaired. The perfect size - maybe 800 seats - to see a play or hear a concert.
They held the last night of the poetry festival here - a local prize was to be awarded - but I had missed out on the important info that I was to read. Utter wretched panic. I had nothing with me. Fortunately Mirza had, like a good translator, bought everything with him so I ripped a poem out of his folder and did my best.
The acoustics are very good indeed. A lovely feel to the space.
If I lived here I would make it my home away from home.
The National Theatre of Bosnia and Herzegovina was opened in November 1921 with a big show which lasted for three nights. It is the venue for the famous Sarajevo Film Festival which has been taking place every year since 1995. I guess during the Film Festival would be a good time to visit!
Other than that I can only say about the theatre that it's in a nice looking building which stands on a square surrounded by a few rather ugly buildings.
