The main road leading into Sarajevo from the motorway is called Zmaja od Bosne. It's a long and wide boulevard with socialists and very modern buildings on the right and the left as well as a tram line in the middle. Loved it (you know my strange taste and love for socialist buildings right?)!!
When driving down this street slowly (which we could because it was packed rushhour & football traffic) you get to see many interesting sights like the Olympic Village, several museums and the infamous Holiday Inn hotel which served as journalist hotel during the siege and from where the first shots which killed the first of many people were fired.
The road was nicknamed "Sniper Alley" in the 1990s because during the siege both sides were lined with snipers. People had to run or drive really fast in order not to be shot, they had to travel around the city though in order to survive (getting water, food, wood etc).
Numbers I heard were that the snipers wounded 1,030 persons and killed 225. Leave a Comment Address: Zmaja od BosneDirections: Between old town and airport, you can't miss it. It's a 6 lane street ;)

it is a beautiful, intimate old Orthodox church of At. Archangel Mihail. Its origin date back to the medieval times. In the Turkish documents it said that this one predates their conquering of those lands. As manz other mounments it suffered 3 fire devastations: 1615, 1644, 1656 and 1726.
Her present appearance dates back to 1730.
Has georgious and so loveable architecture, and an iconostas of great beauty and value.
Inside the Church u can take photos. There is a museum as well, highlz recommended for some rare and worth seeing stuff - no photos in there. Address: Mula Mustafe Baseskije str-parallell to BascarsDirections: Dowtown, in a way in Bascarsija area

Take a walk, also, through the Bistrik area, 'lower' part if nothing else. Apart from the fact that Pivnica is over there where u can have smth nice to eat and drink - day and nite time, u will be able to see some nice street scenes in the sense of architecture etc. Address: Bistrik areaDirections: Oposite from Bascarsija.
